If memory serves me right, Casey used to moan like crazy about anything... and everything. There was even some crying over milk. Test rider seems like a good gig for him, with the chance to ride wildcards, but without the pressure of a full-time seat.
Can only see him leaving Yamaha if Rossi starts to get preferential treatment. There’s absolutely no point to him switching to Ducati at this stage.
Rossi won't get preferential treatment over Lorenzo, but there is a point. I think the Ducati is an unknown quantity. Dovizioso has never been one of the top riders, let's face it, he was always the 3rd fastest out of the 3 Repsol Honda riders. Iannone is a bit of an unknown quantity as he's never been timed on a factory Honda or Yamaha, but he's close to winning soon on a Ducati imo. I think Lorenzo will be watching Stoner's times with interest and looking at the bike 1st hand in race weekends. The Ducati may not be the nightmare now that it has been for a good few years. I also don't think the cash motivates Lorenzo, but he could be offered a shed load.
Cant see him being at the pointy end as much as we do. He works very well with the M1, the Desmo is wiley beast that takes someone equally as wiley to tame it. But its never going to happen and if Lorenzo moves to Ducati I will show my arse on the town hall steps
#99 and #27 are completely different styles though arent they and the Ducs still a bit of a dog? Would be amazed if Lorenzo makes any decision based on Casey's thinking. Mind you, if he does, he wouldnt be the first rider to go to ducati thinking he can just jump on the bike and emulate Stoners performances.
Yep, but they are both top riders is my point. The time Dovi will get out of that bike will not be it's full potential imo I'm not so sure about that, I have to say. As I've said, it's not the bike it has been for 8 years and Lorenzo is a very considered rider. It would be interesting to see. If he does go, he obviously thinks he can win championships on it. If he stays put, you know what he thinks.
Bookmarked ! Photographic evidence will be required I'm afraid. :Wideyed: But I have to say, I think I agree at this point in time.
If Stoner doesn’t come back from whatever supposed “retirement” he’s had, fair enough, go there and see what it’s all about but if they’re team mates, Lorenzo would be a fool to go there cos there will only be one winner imo.
Has Lorenzo already made his mind up? I have read that Jlo (not from the block) received a Porsche Cayenne Hybrid last week as a gift for winning the first race in Qatar. Is this just a genuine nice offer from the Porsche people in Barcelona or is this something to sweeten the Ducati deal!? I am thinking the latter as Porsche are owned by VW who also own Audi, and who does Audi own??
I personally could see a switch to Ducati for Lorenzo. The bike is obviously competitive and whilst I have nothing against Dovi, he ain't no Alien. I would imagine the prospect of a lucrative offer from Ducati and also probably wanting a larger salary than rossi has left Lorenzo in a quandary. I would have a good long think too!
Pretty sure he is already on more cash than Rossi but preety sure he wont take this risk on the Duke .
I would say after you add up all of their personal endorsements they have, the pay pack wouldn't be too different.
David Emmett @motomatters 1m1 minute ago What Lorenzo wants to keep private is the fact that he has an offer of €11+ million from Ducati on the table.
GPxtra @GP_Xtra 4m4 minutes ago Lorenzo: I want to keep my future plans private. I'll talk with my people and we'll decide in the next few weeks maybe he will jump ship, have to say hats off if he does
I like Jorge. The documentry on him on BTSpurt before season start showed him as good egg. Just about to read his book so my opinion might change.
My opinion of him increased quite a bit when he had his helmet designed by a girl with Downs Syndrome for the 2013 Catalunya GP. He won and invited her onto the podium to celebrate with him. Bought a tear to my eye that did :tearsofjoy:
