Hi All, I am new to the site. I am currently in the process of trying to negotiate a deal for a new 939 Hyper SP. Does anybody have previous experience of Ducati dealers as I get the impression they are not interested in selling new bikes. Can anybody recommend a dealer?
Bloody hell!! If you were to visit Ducati Nottingham you'd be very happy then, bit far for you to travel though!
I am based in Leeds but can travel for the right deal. I wont say where I have been but its a main dealer in the north. I discussed lead-time with them and they originally said they should be able to get hold of one for late June/July. I explained that I wasn't in a rush but would prefer to have for my 40th at the start of July. Chased them today for a lead-time and bluntly told "can't get one sorry" end of!!
Name and shame mun! I know the British Isles in general get a bum deal with new models of bikes sometimes. It seems that Europe and the rest of the world get their pick, then the UK get what's left.I know Ducati Notts, have a 939 SP HM on test at the moment, whether they can get hold of what you want, you may have to phone around. It's not always the dealer's fault, but they shouldn't give empty promises too!
Thanks Jenc I have sent a request to Notts so I will see what comes of it. Glad I didn't put a deposit down there and then with the dealer. I just think it's just bad sales. I am a sales person myself and would always try to meet the customers needs where possible, but if it's not possible I would see if we could arrange something between us and not close down a potential £15k deal. Like I said it was a preferred date not a fixed date as I have a perfectly good bike already. If this is how they handle their new bike sales I am starting to wonder what after sales service would be like. Doesn't make me that confident to part with my hard earned cash. Have you used Ducati Notts - they are quite a new dealer from what I have read
It's possibly bad communication between the dealer and Ducati,I used to work in the bike trade for a premier Yamaha dealer, and it was the same there.....I believe it was the same when the R1-M came out, always seems to be when a brand new model comes out. I know the operations manager of Ducati Notts., also from Pidcock Triumph and Pidcock BMW,he's doing a great job at staffing the best people he can find at the Ducati branch,as he wants it to work....and work well. Good luck with what you're looking for,and I really hope you get the bike you want, when you want it! Just don't let one bad experience kill it for you.
"Nah then lad has tha come with some coin to buy thisen one of these nice red Ducatis? NO well get thee grubby mitts off them and bugger off downstairs and go fondle a trumpet" :Wideyed:
Thanks for your help. I have been in touch with the Notts dealer and they are very helpful. Curtis at the Notts branch is trying to sort for me in the next day or two. Fingers crossed. Its a shame as I only live a mile from the Leeds branch but they don't seemed too bothered, although it wasn't the Leeds branch that were so abrupt.
1. Be interesting to see what you think of it. 2. The way theyre going there'll need to be another 2 revisions (821, then 939...theyre getting there slowly..) before I part with my 1100 evo sp to even consider it... 3. Be prepared for...."The Peeling!....." theres a special time in a ducati owners life (usually around 2k miles when everything starts to go chalky or peel...) 4. Theres no 939's in Bristol (well, there weren't last week...) 5. Welcome to the forum.
