just had my Dvt serviced at Riders, its first 625 mile service, Service dept chap told me it will be due another service in November this year or 9000 miles, which ever is the sooner I was expecting the next service to be due exactly 12 months from this one or at 9k I take it if I don't have it serviced in November, my warranty will be void ? I certainly won't have reached 9k by then, be lucky if I'll have done 3k !!
Service schedule is based on the annual anniversary of your registration/PDI date or mileage, whichever comes first.
Strange my dealer just told me the next service was 12 months from the date of the previous one (today), or 7,500 miles? I've put 700 miles on mine in just over three weeks though. So 7,500 or 9,000?
I had my first service last week and asked the dealer when the next service would be - he said 12 months from registration date or 9,000 miles - whichever came first. That was Ducati Manchester.
Sorry to be blunt, but it's all a bloody con ! I've just spent £230 on basically an oil & filter & to have the chain lubed & tyres kicked ! If I want my 2 year warranty to remain valid...I need to spend another £230 in November, I won't have done anywhere near 9k either I really wasn't expecting to spend out on another service until March / April 2017
I'm negotiating with Ducati Italy to get some help replacing the instrument panel on my 2010 SF. I bought the bike in 2014. It had one previous owner from new and he had serviced by mileage not annually and they picked up on a "missed" annual service. Looks like they're going to reconsider and give me a sympathetic hearing as this was down to the previous owner and my service record has been exemplary. But if you're the first owner of a new bike under warranty definitely stick to the annual schedule even though it hurts because they will check and you'll be in trouble if something goes wrong. Shop around for servicing. It doesn't matter which dealer does it as long as its an official Ducati dealer.
600 mile service is not really a service, just dropping the oil to remove any free floating contaminates produced by the wear of the new engine. The first "service" is 9k, or 12 month from date of registration. Who Is your dealer Steve, £230 is very expensive for the that oil change.....I only paid £105 for mine?
Thanks for the reply, the dealer was Riders Yes , I thought £230 was scandalous, for basically an oil change, especially when parts came to £55 on my invoice!.. £175 labour ?? You had your 625 mile service done very cheaply !?
Count yourselves lucky, I'm looking at £800++ to get a 6 year old bike serviced, which must be running up to 20% of its value?
Just looked at my invoice...£101.89.....1.5hrs labour at £57.60 and the rest in parts...they even fitted my Urban kit at the same time as the service. I think Riders have had your pants down Steve. As has been said above, shop around, it'll save you a fortune!
So your service was £159 ? Not £110 ? Unfortunately the only Ducati dealers fairly close to me are Riders Your service was the 625 mile service ? What dealer was that with ?
I paid £230 odd for my 7500 service ,think labour was £65 an hour at Cov ducati, thought that was the average price but looking on here obviously not.
No mate, £101.89 all in. Break down was £57.60 labour, £44.29 parts, so total of £101....... Yes, 625 mile service by Woods of Abergele. Should have been nearer the £160 mark to be fair, but I've know them for years and have bought numerous Dukes from them in that time.... Steve
Thanks for the reply Steve Yes, Riders are robbing swines, but those swish showrooms & all the staff ( many pointless, from my observations ) all that doesn't pay for itself, I've got a good mind to write to Ducati uk, and ask the question.. How can the same service differ so much in price !? Unfortunately, I would have to travel many more miles to get it serviced at another Ducati dealer, but I bloody hate getting ripped off !
mine was 131 from memory its no different to a car. My wife does c5k pa but has to have the oil/filter change under time based servicing of warranty invalid keep it longer than 2 yr warranty period and do what you like
[QUOTE="Gimlet, post: 733320, member: 27856 Shop around for servicing. It doesn't matter which dealer does it as long as its an official Ducati dealer.[/QUOTE] Sorry Gimlet but I think your wrong, as long as it's a vat reg., competent mechanic, any one will do.
I don't think you will need another service until you reach a year after the last one or 9000 miles, the bike will nag you.
