I have only picked up my used 848 3 days ago and noticed that there is always fluid residue coming out from the left hand side fairing hole - see pic. There was loads on the day I picked it up and rode home ~ 70 miles but the roads where wet so I thought it was just rain water... Yesterday I went for a 100 mile blast in the dry and it still did it! Its either oil or break/clutch fluid! When the bike stands, there is no puddle underneath it. Any ideas ? or is this normal XD
No just the standard radiator leak. If you look through that hole, with a torch, you will see the wet part of the radiator near the top just outboard of the mounting bracket. Don't ask me how I know!
 Anyone actually tried these ? I'm going to try epoxy/radweld first. If that doesn't work I fit the cheap aftermarket rad.
There was a thread about Chinese ebay rads a day or two ago. The thing that worries me is that they say the item is in Portsmouth (last one said Chadderton) yet the sellers contact details are in China. I cannot imagine that P&P would cost £65 from Portsmouth. To me that means that the seller is not honest. I made a small bit of aluminium about 4mm by 15mm and glued it in place over the leak with epoxy on mine, just to be sure I also stitched it through the cores with some stainless locking wire, seems to have worked fine. taking the radiator out is a fairly simple job.
He sure did. I've not used it yet. I carry it as a spare to euro trackdays in case me or my buddy hole ours. To be fair it seems ok quality but time will tell. When I last had radiator woes I ended up doing a swap/recon deal with Ducati Lincoln. I can't bring myself to cough up 620 notes for a new one. So far so good.
My 1098R has done the same thing at the weekend. I thought it was because of a poorly fitted hose after my recent Samco installation, and did find a less than perfect joint. But the evidence looks suspiciously like the top picture. Fingers crossed it was the hose. If it does it again on the next run, I'll have a good look at the Rad.
