the floor painting has begun but as its cold its taking for ever to cure. I didn't realise how much of a pain in the arse it is trying to avoid stepping on painted floor. it seems to be soaking in quite nicely but will take about 4 or 5 coats before i think ill get that shiny finish on it.
Did you use epoxy paint and is it curing? As per my earlier post I was told the epoxy paint I used wouldn't cure at all beneath 10C (not sure what it is at the moment though) so interested if things have moved on as I have more time to do things like this in the winter.... I painted when it was well over 10C and if anything it dried to quickly and was like painting with glue after an hour.
yeh i used epoxy, it was quite thin though. the first coat took about 18 hours as it soaked in to the wood. the second one went on and it was about 12 hours before it started going tacky and I didn't get any on my finger when touching it. i think its better doing it when slightly colder as I'm assuming its the same plaster and has and ideal temp to cure
thats what im using atm SUPERCOAT INDUSTRIAL,FACTORY,SHOWROOM,WAREHOUSE,GARAGE FLOOR PAINT 20 LITRES | eBay
quick update. managed to get 5 coats down and it has mostly gone smooth and even. just need to fill screw holes and some of the gaps in the boards
so i had this turn up the other day. can anyone identify what its from. I was told 749 but not sure which. has adjustable head stock and multi point mounting for rear sets
update time...... some little scrote has decided to nick the 1098 out of the shed. ripped the door pretty much clean off so the 749 or what ever it is frame project has been moved forward unless I can find a cheap full 748 / 749 that needs a bit of love. Luckily as I'm off my feet after an op i had all the 1098 body work sat on my dining room table trying to get them back to a reasonable condition. If anyone has any 2nd projects that don't look like they will ever get touched please let me know
Shit, sorry to hear it mate. I feel your pain, my 1098 SF got pinched too. Hopefully insurance will sort you out.
bit of a kick in the dangley bits. the worst thing is I don't see me getting any more than 5 or 6k for it considering I paid 8 plus all the parts and its only done 11k miles plus got a grand left on the finance. the police aren't doing anything about it as there are no lines of enquiry.
Hopefully you will be pleasantly surprised. I paid £8900 for my SF and it was valued at £9k. I still lost out as had spent out on it for bling but could of been worse. Fingers crossed for you mate.
The guy on the phone said to me they look at trade mags, Ebay, forums, Bike Trader etc. Everywhere we do it seems.
Little hoody bastard! Should be publicly flogged and have I am a scumbag thief tattooed on his forehead for all to see
Whilst I agree wholeheartedly with the sentiment, the warm fuzzy society we currently enjoy would say we would be infringing his human rights. Yeha right load of old b00l0cks!
as much as i would like to find them and then nail their bits to a post i would then be the bad person in this situation and end up worse off. Ive worked out I will have about £3000 left over maybe a bit more if i sell the parts i have kicking around. id love another duke but not keen on the monster os it would have to be a sports bike but it seems impossible to find anything around that price range so I've been looking at some of the late 90s / early 2000 blades r1s and rsv's. does anyone have any other suggestions or advice on those 3?
