1299 No Insurance

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by martin y, Apr 5, 2016.

  1. Hi, Bennetts just Quoted me £206.30 for fully comp on a 1299 Panigale base model with 3 years no claims, Could not quote for Panigale S until I have 4 years no claims; wtf. Such a good price for base model but less than 4k extra value and additional safty equipment on the S and no Quote, I understand performance and brakes are the same? offerd to fit tracker etc and still no go :(

Non of the oline companies will quote for Panigale S except MCE at £7400.00:screamcat: but most will quote sub £350 for base model What next? I dont think I could be happy with the base model, I would always think that I am missing out :(

My dream bike is looking further away:cry:

  2. Take the S off :)

  3. Try Ducati Insurance. Ring them ( and other companies) rather than going down the online route. Its 4k more but goes above the 20K threshold which most insurers consider a specialist risk.
Do you consider the suspension to be the additional safety equipment? Or the carbon mudguard ?

    Hope you get sorted:upyeah:

  5. You buy it, then keep it at my gaff...i'll even put you as a named rider on my policy..can't say fairer than that.:Angelic:

  6. Ducati insurance do you have a number? is it through a Dealer, Seastar Super Bikes out here in the wilds of Norfolk did not offer as a option. Is Ducati insurance their own? or are they a broker?

  7. Very good of you to offer; but no thank you:grinning:

  9. Thanks for the numbers will give a try, I do like proper 01 numbers:)

  10. Ducati insurance have been brill for me over the last 4 years both on price and ease to deal with, even have my Aprilia with them now.
Bennetts did u a favour, had nothing but bad experiences with them.

  11. That's cheap for a 1299!

  12. That is insanely cheap to insure a 1299!!

  13. I done online quote with go compare for basic 1299, got 25 quotes ranging from 256 to about 500 or so, rang Bennets as with them for my 996 and they quoted £206.30. my 996 this year was £136 with leathers cover, legal cover, breakdown etc, only renewed two weeks ago. must be an age thing. All quotes are full comp.

  14. Mine was +£800, a recent £14k claim a few SP things on the license...but that's London for you and three dukes, a KTM & an AJS ....:Angelic:

  15. 1-2% of the bike value....seems very reasonable.

  17. Hi Martin

I had the same last summer on my Pani S and was shocked as I am 53! Anyway, Ducati's own insurance sorted and this year it should drop loads. It's the £20k limit, it seems, as it's tricky over that figure. Good luck and I would recommend the S highly. Ride safe.

  18. Yeah.... but he hasn't told you that he lives in the Outer Hebrides.... there's no one to steal and nowhere to ride it... of course it's cheap :tonguewink:

  19. I suppose you might call Mid Norfolk a little off the beaten track, but; we do have a few nice roads to ride, however we have our fair share of undesirable social misfits, lucky to not live in town or city but on outer edges of a village so probably low risk post code.

It might also help that I am on the wrong end of fifty five and have had my bike licence since 1978, my car licence since 1981, also have a advanced motoring qualification(car).

The quotes for a basic 1299 did supprise me a litte, expected them to be around the four hundred mark.

  20. Wish mine was that cheap!! I've got a standard 1199 and 8 years no claims and mine's £600! but then I did the online thing and didn't call Ducati Insurance... MCE wanted 1200 and I'd been with them for years.... ( I'll never understand insurance... will be interested to hear how much cheaper Ducati are though...
