Have any of you guys used one of the basic from wheel chocks and are they any good? Like this Sealey I only want it to hold the bike upright whilst I put the rear paddock stand on in the garage.
Probably safer not using it, it won't support the bike at all really as the bike can fall just as easily. Steering head can turn just as easy too.
Never had an issue putting any of my bikes in the rear stand... Ducati is the easiest I've had too. I would save your money and put on whilst standing at the side of it. That said, if your really not comfortable or confident doing this, a stand will be cheaper than repairing/replacing damaged fairings etc...
I can do it without but the bike needs to go fairly tight against the wall on is left side so I can't use the side stand and it all gets a bit messy really!
I always put a small block under the side stand so the bike is nearer to being upright making it a lot easier to then fit and then lift the back end swiftly
Practice makes perfect for putting bikes on paddock stands. I can put my 899 on the stand with my eyes closed now, but it does take a bit of practice If you're worried, just put it on it's side stand, and do it the first few times from the other side. Hold the bike by the rear cowl at it's vertical balancing point and just aim the paddock stand forks onto the bobbins That front stand doesn't look it'd hold a push bike upright, let alone a motorbike
I can do it fine with the side stand but as I'm against the wall on the stand side it's not an option I'm afraid. The chock was more of a help tbh. You can get better versions like this Warrior Wheel Chock - Fits 15-19" Inch Wheels | Demon Tweeks but not sure if they're up to much either
That should hold it much more stable - I would go for that if I didn't have a moto-mover. I park my R1 in a garage using the moto-mover which I have had for 15 years - it's fab.
You can still manoeuvre your bike up on the rear paddock stand. If you wanted it against a wall, you would need to put it on the paddock stand forward to where you want it and pointing about 20deg out from the wall at the front. Mount the bike on the stand, and then turn the front wheel, and lift the rear of the paddock stand so it's on it's wheel, and you can then drag it back as it steers itself into the spot. It's dead easy. If you wanted a decent front chock, try these - I have one to secure my track bike in the van and the bike will stand up in it all day if you wanted it to Warrior Wheel Chock - Fits 15-19" Inch Wheels | Demon Tweeks
Bloody titchy iPhone screen, Just read other messages. That Moto Mover looks like a good idea. I might have to look one up
Not sure if they still do them but they are Fab - cost me £40 about 15 years ago as my girlfriend at the time (Sarah 5 of 9) worked at a retailer - RRP was £80 back then. You lock the wheels, pull the bike back as your sat on it and it grabs the rear tyre (fully adjustable for different widths). You can then swing the bike round with ease and glide into tight spaces
If I had more space that moto mover would be ideal. I think I going to try the more expensive chock. Cheers guys
