999 New Tyre Time .

Discussion in '749 / 999' started by chase, Apr 8, 2016.

  1. Hi All ,
It will soon be time to replace both tyres .Do any of you have any recommendations ?
I currently have Bridgestone BT16 front and rear .
I may do 1 track day this year so the choice needs to be road use bias .
    Any recommendations /advice appreciated .
    Chase.

  2. Metzelers...

Went from Michelin last year and like them better. Front end feels more planted.

  3. BT016 or BT016Pro? I has the pro's on my ZX10r and found them to be very sticky indeed. I have PP2's on the Duke and these also feel very good but then the Duke handles better so difficult to compare. I'll get BT016Pro again, Id happily PP2 again too.

  4. For fast road bias, I cannot fault Metzeler Z7RRs.

On my third set now, I think. Great in hot or cold weather, wet or dry.

  5. Michelin pilot power 2.

  6. BT16 not Pro .

  7. Hi Chase,
BT016 were replaced by 016pro to improve wet grip and mileage,
You mentioned road biased, do you use the current tyres from edge to edge on rear?
Do you want fast Rd tyre to suit bike?
Do you want sports touring because you commute a bit on slow roads or motorways?
What's your price range and whether that will be supply only, to loose wheels, fit to bike price?
Do you ride dry only, caught in wet don't mind or all weathers
Give me your order of priority of above then mention any brand you have zero confidence n because of an off or something,
Let me know what you need from your new tyres then I will give you an honest range of choices with best suited to your riding style, your bike and your needs
    Thx
    Andy,

  8. I'm going Dunlop Sportsmart 2's on my 899. I love them, very stiff tyre but had them on my 675r and 848 Evo. I would try metzeler m7rr though if they did them in my size as they get really amazing reviews from people every time these threads come up

  9. Cannot go wrong with SportSmart 2. I love the to bits.
Only using the M7RRs because I feel they have slightly better cold/wet grip.
