1299 Ducati Data Analyser Plus Dda+

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by PeteKeys, Apr 9, 2016.

  1. Hello
Just prepping for my first track day. Anyone used the DDA? Does anyone know if its possible for it to automagically do the laptimer on the bike via its GPS? If so does this need to be set up in anyway?
So far all I can see is it has the ability to do off line analysis
    Help appreciated
    cheers
    Pete

  2. Honestly

For your first track day id not bother personally. Just another distraction.

  3. Ahh - to be more specific probably the 200th day I've spend on the track ... my first on the Pani :)

  4. Ha ha

    As you were then buddy

  5. I think you have to flash the high beam when you cross the start line so the GPS can locate you. There should be "GPS" on the dash when you have a signal.

  6. that would be great if it works!!

  7. I think it does 'virtual start line' mate, even the 899 one has it, I've only used the old DDA on my 848 and it was pretty cool, but the DDA+ is much better

  8. Hello
You must first set DDA+ on at bike menu. Dash indigator, gps and dda on. Next to Race, abs, dtc, etc. Laptimer on. Then finishline flash highbeam to set markpoint.
Turning power off to end. You must repeat all at to begining for next sessions.

  9. hmm just been out for a ride and it didn't seam to log anything.
Thanks very muchly - just tried this and it seems to work.

I realize my mistake now that that the DDA mode has to be switched on every time the ignition is turned on and off - thats a pain - do you know if there is anyway of getting it to default to "on" if the DDA plug is plugged in?

  10. No shortcuts. In menu dda+ must set on, every session. Then data will be saved without laptiming. Some times using it on road, recording drive route.
Take dda+ module out at rear, when not use. Drain battery dry.

  11. Hello Forum,

Im new here and i have bought a 899 last winter (last model 2015) modified it for track use only.

I have several problems with ducati dda+ and im quite disappointed.
1.) switching dda on every time starting my 899, no shortcut available? make it sticky somehow?
2.) setting finish line every time, doesn't remember finish line like posted in the manual. Do you have the same issue?
3.) dda+ does not record any laps - its all one data stream! (but working in dahsboard, the laptimes are stored in the dashboard only.
4.) Using dda data analyser software, as said, only one lap from power on till power off, no map available. I cant pull map window out of the corner, so no gps data.
5.) Basically no documentation of the software. What does DTC index mean? whats the Range for example?

So many problems with this device.

Please, can anybody help with my issues?

    greetings from Austria

  12. Oh bugger - just sent the bike off to Spain for a track day with the DDA+ device plugged in - guess i should pack a battery charger.

Actually though - its very strange that you have to enable the DDA device every time you switch the bike off and on ... but that it can discharge the battery???

  13. Hmm its a £350 extra on the bike... but
    - with having to switch it on every time i stop the bike in the pitlane queue - I'm gonna forget quite often
    - with the issues you list above as well it just doesn't seam fit for purpose.

At the moment I use an app called racechrono on an old £20 android phone - its brilliant - gps laptimer, all the circuits built in, gives time/up/down on your best lap (green when up/red when down) it's a bit naff if its better for giving real on track feedback than this dda thing

    No documentation is shocking!

  14. 1. Unfortunately that's by design. Shit design, but by design.
    2. Have you installed the GPS unit/receiver? Do you have the DDA and not the DDA+
    3. Is because of 2.
    4. Is because of 2.
    5. No idea. Surprised there are no online instructions at PROSA though.

  15. Map need internet connection at computer. DTC is Ducati Traction Control.
Yep is there GPS module installed, at nosecone?

  16. Phone based GPS are slightly less accurate than dedicated units such as the DDA+, Starline etc. Phone GPS will give you slightly lower lap times :) The DDA+ also gives you speed, revs, gear, temp data, TC triggering etc.

  17. Not if you combine the Racechrono app with a 10hz Bluetooth receiver.

  18. 10Hz, that'll do very v.nicely :)

As an aside, Ducati's DDA+ is 3rd party dev'd unit by Prosa.

  19. Yes, everything in place. GPS is working, activated in dashboard, it is also working for lap timing for dasboard but if i use the dda+ software, the whole stint is one lap... which makes it quite unusable - no sense. So i have several problems with this ducati dda+ kit. DTC - i know, but what does the index number mean? I have checked the video clips from my gopro- the orange light was never flashing... but at the data recording dtc action was regorded... so maybe only if the index is above a curtain number it will be indicated on the dashboard. For getting any benefit out of it, i have to know what the index means. How fare im away from interaction of the dtc... that would be useful for setting up the dtc. So as said, out of the box is the dda+ kit with no real added value for me ... its nice and funcy to have but not worth any euro. sorry for saying it.

  20. Hello thanks for reply.
Ad 1: OK, i can life with that, but it's a clear bug or a really bad design of the internal ducati software. I dont get the reason for that. But it can be taken into the startup routine before leaving the box. It is one more step... OK.

Ad 2: yes its the dda+ module, everything installed correctly, GPS working and activated in dashboard. DAA, LAP, GPS activated.

Ad 2,3,4: No idea... I will get in contact with my ducati dealer - but im sure that they don't have a clue, als always ... They even dont know if additional rotors are available from brembo for my 899... it took me 10 sec on the brembo page to get the information. ...

Ad 5: there is a documentation for the obvious function of the DDA+ software. But if i really want to use it to improve something, explanation what figures means etc... nothing there. How to start this shitty software - i can figure out without any manual. I guess this tool is just for fun, no real added value and purpose for racing intention - from my point of view not worth the money.

Do you have any ideas how i can improve the functionality of the dda+ as expected? I dont have any idea - the next step is going to the ducati dealer - if they dont have any idea i will send it back to sender...
