  1. Guys

I have the workshop manual - but cant find out how to remove the plastic head covers ...

Have removed the obvious screws - but the plastic covers have flanges on them and dont want to comeout easily, especially the clutch side...

I want to replace with C/F covers - but cant se ehow to easily get them out ..

Anybody done this and have any pics or advise ??

  2. I would like to do mine as well, but haven't yet although I found this guide online

    remove the seat.

remove the fuel tank completely. It's super easy, and it gets it out of the way. The tricky part is putting back the fuel tank breather lines on the front right hand side of the tank. take your time with this. Lubricant makes the job a lot easier.

remove all four of the subframe bolts. This lets you remove the heat shields easily.

Remove the small cover on the left hand heat shield and expose the wiring harness.

Clip the cable ties holding the harness on (You will notice a channel in the subframe. this is where you run the harness from now on). Remove the left and right hand heat shield.

You will need the following bolts to replace the mounting hardware for the heat shields.
    Ducati part numbers and quantity;
    85212781A x2
    77916441A x2
    77210621A x1
    77253317C x2
These cost me around $8 in total here in Australia.

Now, put it all back together and enjoy seeing more of your engine and a little more heat while you ride.

Difficulty will depend on your mechanical skills. If you're not confident, let a qualified mechanic do the work. It won't cost you as much as a mistake.

  3. Cool - Thanks

I have the tank of and lower subframe bolts and was going to lift subframe - maybe take it of may be easier

  4. And as for those poxy fuel breather pipes - why make then so short .

And the small screw holding the shock side head cover - lol.. what a bitch with the spring in the way

  5. So yes, basically once you lift the tank and subframe it's all pretty obvious and straight forward. Getting your carbon fibre covers to fit is the next fun challenge, the ones I bought had to be filed down quite a bit to get them to sit in correctly. If you've bought genuine Ducati covers you might be ok, otherwise expect a little tweaking to get them in nice and snug...

  6. I prefer with out

  8. +1 the engine is part of what sets Ducati apart from all the others then they cover it up with cheap plastic!!! I had mine removed as part of the PDI.

  9. Before i start the job does anyone know if you have to use the bolts in the guide i posted? or are the originals still ok to use?
    i.e. these

    85212781A x2
