The one and only Roy Orbison- I will never forget when a journalist asked Elvis "what's it like being the greatest singer in the world?" and he replied quick as you like " I dunno - ask Roy Orbison!"
What a man and what a life - tinged with sadness and tragedy.Saw his wife die in front of him when a truck hit her Harley, two of his boys then die in a house fire while he was away on tour.Shows the inner strength of the man to carry on performing and writing great songs despite all the shit that was thrown his way! All this can be heard in his voice and through his music. He was to me what Elvis was to most
Waiting to do my niagras on the Grand National (as I do almost every year!) chilling to a bit of Peter Tosh! My C D has decided to go Pete Tong so Im playing it on DVD player through Tele with Bose sound thingy on - actually a better sound
Generally I'm listening to whatever I'm working on. If I'm not actually recording someone it'll either be stuff that I've recorded that I'm editing and/or mixing or something that I'm learning to play for one of the bands I'm in. I actually don't get much time to listen to music for pleasure. Music is my job, so when I'm not working I often don't listen to music or if I do I will often listen to jazz or classical because they are genres that I don't work with. Today I've had a rehearsal with the Queen tribute band that I have just joined and I'm now editing and mixing a recording I did of a local covers band called Double Dare. I'm taking a break at the moment because I was falling asleep during playback of a song, which was making things a bit tricky work effectively.
It's a strange that something you really love - could be motorcycle racing, music, anything? Becomes different when it's you job, profession or way of putting bread on the table and paying the bills.Ive been a salesman since I was 15 years old and it's all I know.Ive always wished I had qualified an apprenticeship or learnt a skill - not to fall back on - just so I can think to myself "I machined that bolt myself on my lathe"
Could you do me a fave as I'm useless on iPhone! Can you load up a track that was the first record I dance to with someone who was very special to me? Laura Green - Moonlight, music and you - thanks chap
you know, you really shouldn't knock yourself. I reckon you could knock out something better than, well say this :-
