Unless you intentionally turned the TCS and ABS off first, which I didn't do... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Mind you, a lad at my work that has one did a burn out and it didn't break anything (which I'd have thought would put more stress on everything...) so maybe there is actually something wrong with my bike?
If that was today, you choose a blimmin miserable day to ride there I was down your way at Combe sound testing today, and it was miserable in a van, let alone out on an 899
I took it on my trailer. Although the ride home would have been ok... How did you get on with your sound test?
Oh ok, good choice New Track bike failed miserably: 110db and then 109db with baffles fitted Unusual test too. Had to give 3/4 max revs, which on my zx6r is 12k rpm and they measure static only Was supposed to be there next Wednesday, but they were good enough to refund me, and managed to book onto Silverstone GP circuit on the same day, so a blessing in disquise maybe
Nightmare. I don't have the time to run up to Combe to get mine checked. I've got the standard can on and I just need to hope it passes. To be honest, I think I would have preferred a day at Silverstone!
You've got no chance on your 899. I checked my sound meter against the one they used at Combe, and my 899 on standard cans is 110db at 8k rpm when I checked it
Oh ok, you might be fine if you've got a reasonably standard exhaust My zx6r isn't overly loud, but them checking at 3/4 max revs (12k) blows any chances of making 105db You can take it there any time to get them to check it
It's completely standard, it even still has the cat in it, so I'm hoping it will pass. I just need to make sure I warm it up thoroughly and hope for the best. It's such a shame that they have such strict noise limits imposed on them.
I have the following bikes all fail at "The Doom" 1199 CBR100RR RSV4 The problem is they test at 3/4 max revs rather than the ACU way. The newer the bike the higher the red line the less chance of passing..............
I wasn't overly fussed on not passing having realised it's only 6 x 10min sessions for £130, when you can get 7x20 for similar money everywhere else It's not their fault though, as the council limit them to only having 12 bikes on the track at once for track days
Its a cracking little track - shame they let themselves get "tricked" into their sound testing regime....
Yeah, it's a decent track, albeit nearly completely right handers and quite bumpy Like you say, it's a shame the place has been ruined by powerful local residents lobbying the council to get restrictions I grew up going there as a youngster with my dad and have seen some great racing there over the years, that unfortunately, will never get repeated as the noise limits and limited Sunday racing excludes some big series' You ready for Silverstone next week ? I managed to get a slot there with Focussed events for the GP circuit on the Wednesday now, so I've got that as a nice warm up to CSS
I was originally planning on taking my 899, but as we're there at a track day the day before, I'll be with my track bike and not my Ducati as van only fits 2 bikes with mine and my friends Therefor, is it bad form to use warmers for the CSS as my track bike is on Diablo SC's and I don't fancy having to run them cold ?
