2 more engine revsions lee and they'll be at the same level as ours....might think about it then but I doubt it...
Yep - I have, it was so good I bought one!! After having previously owned a base Hyper 1100, .... then a Hyper 1100 SP, then ...., I decided it was time to treat myself to a brand new 939 SP, because I couldn't stand not owning another Hyper (because I like them so much). btw: '...' = many more bikes in between I've had it for about 3 weeks now. Absolutely love it! I've just had the first service done, so now I'm looking forward to giving it a good thrashing! Mods so far are: - SC Projects carbon exhaust (high mount) - Competitionwerks tail tidy - Engine guard plastic thingy - DP brake reservoir I even did a Youtube video...
Nice, very nice, but, I couldn't justify the layout of 12k for one.... But if you've got it then why not... Your the same as me.... Ive been without a hyper for a year and it was getting too much... I "had to" have one back.... Sent from Tablet
Paulbi , how go you rate the bottom end power of the 939 , it's the low down grunt I really like with the 1100 , but I think in maybe a couple of years when the 939 will of lost a few grand and if I fancy a newer bike I would defiantly be looking at the 939
Hi Lee, I would say it’s not as torque’y as the 1100 motor is low down, but when you hit the mid to upper range it really comes alive. On the plus side it does make the bike easier to ride within traffic, it’s very smooth. More so with the exhaust I have. When I had my EVO SP I resorted to an AFM unit to help smooth it all out lower down. But with this bike I don’t feel the need. Which is nice. One big noticeable difference I’ve found though is the handling, the air cooled chassis was so twitchy on the front end, especially on the motorway, to the point where I needed a steering damper, but this bike is properly planted so no damper needed, which is great (and a relief!). However, I did love riding my EVO SP though – so only time will tell if this bike truly lives up to/or surpasses my previous experiences. I’m so happy with the new bike, now I’m not sure what mods to do next though!!? Definitely going to do a track day (or 2) on it I think!
Not as torquey down low - that's kinda made my day if you get my gist...its the reason I went for another (3rd) one..! I do love the look of the new style hyper (moreso the fact you can get a 200 section tyre in there) but I wanted mine for the low down grunt...that was the colour scheme that mine started off in....ill probably go on the hunt and see if I can get some stock panelling over time...
Not been done that I know of... The Multistrada motor should have been the logical upgrade from the 1100.... The 1100 was always the hooligan of the range the Multistrada Mill would have continued that.... Sent from Tablet
I did the same... Was going to buy the 821 at the end of last summer but decided to wait and have the 939 SP. my first Ducati so can't help in the comparisons to different models. Start of the mods - I went with the evotech tail tidy and waiting for their rad guards. Will probably change exhaust at some point - would love to see pics of yours post modding - or is it in the vid (not checked yet) eta: seen it now. Nice! First service in coming weeks I've barely had a chance to ride it since March which has been gutting!
Welcome Gusto. Glad to hear that you have good taste as well :tonguewink::tonguewink:. I'll post some pictures up of my bike over the weekend showing off the new tail tidy etc.
Hi to all, I have also got delivery of my 939 SP, previously had a 821 standard. I am more than happy with the SP specially with the feel on the brake lever thanks to Brembo master cylinder. Of course the suspension is also a great improvement. The engine is in my opinion more torquey, and it spins as fast as the 821 so you get same quick punches off hairpins you give it throttle and you get to 5k and there's almost no more a void and just after you have more of it so it goes quick. Was putting some sport bikes under pressure on local mountain roads quite easy. A tad heavier but not noticeable while riding. It must be that nasty OEM pipe. Mods many will take it little by little
Had a demo on the standard 939 yesterday. Last Hyper I rode was the 1100. Here's my thoughts. The 1100 wheelies like the front end is filled with helium. The low end power has the front end come up and float near balance point so easy that my test ride had me loft in 2nd and ride for some time and shift into 3rd while I kept the wheelie going. Amazing fueling and predictable throttle control. The bad - The front end felt very slow with its steering and its very high effort. There was more of a detached feeling of the front end of the 1100 SP EVO I rode with it set up in stock settings. I don't know it that was a model issue or just a setup issue. The new Hyper 939 standard that I rode yesterday has more of a standard motorcycle power delivery. It's linear and less of the vibey v-twin feel than from the a/c motor. This can either be a good thing or a bad thing depending on what you are looking for. I personally am looking for a bit more refinement so the smooth acceleration and clutch up in lower revs of 2nd gear to wheelie are fine with me. Heck I wheelie a Grom so using a little clutch or body English is fine with me. The benefit is most of your riding is not stunting. So smoothness and good fueling are important. The throttle control on the new 939 is fine for me. I have a Duc Scrambler that has the worst fueling that Ducati ever produced. So riding that to the demo may have dampened my view of the 939's throttle response. I did try an Aprilia Tuono and if you want to experience fueling Nirvana then test ride one of those. Back to the Hyper 939... The bike feels like a carved piece of billet aluminum. It's a very solid refined feeling motorcycle. That is coming off of the Scrambler probably but hopping on to the Aprilia was not a step down. It's just a different bike. (the Ape's footpegs are racer tucked up if your knees still like to bend that way) The older Hyper felt more like a collection of parts where the new one feels very tightly knit together. Its hard to explain but you can notice it. First thing you need to do is lose the stock seat and get the Race version. The flat profile and suede cover are light years better than the stock seat. I plan on trading my Scrambler for the new Hyper. SP or standard... That's the thread I'm now searching for.
