No, sorry, not the disney animation, but the things that hold our bikes together. In short. Ducati's standard product are cheap and horrible and I'm fed up of the sight of their rusty appearance. It's time for a change! The only problem is I cannot locate a diagram stating what size bolts go where. And I don't wish to buy a universal set because I'm sure many would go to waste as I wish to mix and match stainless steel with gloss-black painted (stainless steel) ones to suit the different areas of the bike, for no reason other than I'm a fussy bugger Could someone kindly point me in the direction of said diagram so I can then enjoy countless hours searching for replacement ones please? Thanks in advance C

look on ebay. i got a set for the 748 for about £25.00. It had about 200 pieces, most of which were nothing like what you would find on a 748 but enough were to replace most visible fasteners and the left overs have come in handy. I also got an engine bolt set from the states for £40.00 including postage which was a fraction of pro bolt prices. will try and find the supplier...
Thanks Old rider, I had a look but the thankfully the whole bike doesn't require doing, simply certain areas. And the ones required don't appear to be there. Normally I would, however they're far too corroded, and some are also rounding so when they come off, they're coming off for good and I wish to have replacements ready. Hopefully none will require drilling/ tap&die to remove!? They are intentionally made to rust? Excuse my ignorance as there may be a logical rationale behind this but for me, being unable to remove something and potentially having to drill them out isn't something I would call fit for purpose No beauty contest winners required, but I don't wish to waste money replacing items if they're only going to fail in the same way later down the line. I'm not in the habit of replacing items for the sake of it, but if I can select new bolts that I think suit the location better. Ones that will also withstand rust then its a win, win in my eyes. Having looked at the prices, thankfully its not the whole bike, just certain zones where the odd bit of moisture has sat without my seeing. Thank you. I did look at many different kits and companies but its not the entire bike. The main problem area is the rear wheel fairing/ chain cover on the swing arm. The previous owner must have changed them at some point as there appears to be 3 different types of bolt on the rear wheel fairing alone so I have no idea if they're all standard or not? I didn't wish to spend unnecessarily so thought there would be a diagram able to provide clarity on the correct size and type etc so I could research the rest myself and buy only the few required. Thanks again to all that have responded.
Pro bolt are at the top of the market and produce a beautifully finished product at a price. I have never actually bought anything from them and had Racebolt in mind, when Si suggested them. Racebolt also finish their fasteners beautifully but more affordably and I have ordered from them. Stig fasteners as well. But these days I tend to just take an old one to the local chandler and ask for a stainless version
just for reference with pro-bolt and racebolt, up until early 2015 racebolt were the supplier to Pro-bolt, probolt didn't do all manufacturing themselves, most of the pro-bolt stuff on eBay which doesn't get sold on there own site is older racebolt versions, for those looking for perfection matching you either need to pay higher price from probolt for new version/style, anyone buying the cheaper stuff in stages may find that the next cheap kit they want is not available, you then decide to use probolt and the kits are non matching finishes hope that makes sense, anyone getting hold of racevolt director and salesman knows me, mention Andy the manager of protyre Bristol from this forum (bristol is where race bolt is made) and they will build you a kit at your request if it's worth them doing, mention me and you may get money off, I have not finished a stocking deal with them yet as we have more important deals to do first Andy
Wowzers! School day indeed! That was a lot of information to digest, but thanks a bundle for taking the time to explain to me all the particulars and possibilities in sizes. It really is appreciated! I'll trust your word and try taking the least corroded ones off carefully so I can size them up for a suitable replacement. Hopefully it won't only be myself that learns a lot from this thread. Thanks again
Thanks Andy. I live a stones throw away from Bristol so worst case scenario I'll drop the bike in to RaceBolt and ask them to quote me. That's what I love about this forum, so many friendly and helpful people. Hopefully I'll be able to help someone one day with my skill-set/ knowledge so the karma balance is restored.
Are you saying that A2 stainless will be more suitable than A4 marine quality? Yes, zinc is not intended to be a barrier like paint, it's more a sacrificial layer that is meant to corrode before the steel. You'd think on the face of it that carbon would be inert but it's not at all, a plastic washer would be a really good idea.
This relationship between pro bolt and race bolt is really confusing. When I came to look at the Racebolt site, there seems to be a stack of stuff missing. The kits for the 999 only seem to include hex head bolts, can't see any tapered allen bolts at all... I got my last tyre from Pro tyre. I took advantage of the price match and got a really good fitted deal - very pleased...
This site is quite useful with a lot of the bolt / screw sizes listed in the diagrams..... DUCATI 2006 modellek > oem-parts.hu
Hi there, Relationship= racebolt were until early 2015 one of probolts major manufacturers and a big enough client that they would brand the bolt to the clients name Probolt. Probolt source there products, race design and make theirs, I far as I know Racebolt are in transition to the way they go to market, they are looking primarily to "Provide solutions to manufacturer weaknesses" and "ensure a suitable product for motorsport scruterneering" i.e. lock bolts etc, They are in early phase and one of the decision makers I had a meeting with mentioned that they will have small packs (solutions) for retailers i.e. bottom fork problem bolt (because they know gsxr one's corroded and need replacement early in bikes life) which for a retailer like protyre means if a head of a bolt is damaged and not sensible to resecure the fork I can have a solution on the shelf for a customer, they are not concentrating on retail like for like placement kits or bling this early on (remember they are the actual manufacturer) If I am in further meetings with Racebolt it will mean I will have their strategy to market and understand more of what their trying to be for me, for consumers, blingers or dedicated race orientated builders, For anybody stuck it may mean speaking to Probolt to see if they can buy something from one of their old sources for you or know what direction to put you in, You know us @Old rider, we will always try to meet other peoples special buys where possible, and will always do a job as we care about it, we're not high volume bang um off -bang un on fitting stations, its the care we put into what we do that make us that busy, but we will not lower our standards cause the queue is getting longer, the queue has decided to wait because we are worth the wait, and if a mistake happens as sometimes they do and its our fault, you'll always see a hands up, sorry, what the best way to help you out of this issue? Back at home now and recovering from stage one op Cheers , Andy
