Dilema

  1. Well I have a 99 996 which I love but seem to spend money on constantly

I am now wondering which route to take

    a. Keep the 996 and keep spending on it (upgrade shocks front / rear, engine overhaul and paint job)

    b. Buy a modern model (maybe 1198 S Corse)

    What do you think?

  2. The logic says buy the newer bike you seem to want.

    Would you keep the 996?

  3. Methinks the 1198 would cost you even more in running costs, tyres etc? (Probably not the front one tbh )

    The grass is always greener.

I would "like" a 916, but in all reality my carby SS is more usable on the road? Possible problems with the new bike? Better the Devil you know maybe... :)

hmmm keep 996...i never even though about that and adding another...like the thinking...:big grin:

although if that were the case I might go another route and get something more usable than another 'superbike'

  5. Buy an air cooled Monster and have fun on that. The early ones can be picked up for not a lot of money now.

  6. Whatever ducati you have it will always be a strain on the wallet! if your looking for an investment then the 996 is a good 20 years away from being regarded as that, try a 916sps if you have the funds! or any "R" MODEL.

  7. That's the way to go spion. Tell yourself the 996 is an appreciating classic, worth more to you sentimentally than it would realise financially, etc etc. But that you'd like another bike with a bit more technology. Tell yourself that you've already and heroically waited long enough since the 1198 came out for it to have depreciated by close to the value of the 996. So buy a s/h 1198 and you've earned the right to keep the 996.
