Don't know if it's worth the hassle to appeal. $30 plus postage plus customs. If it works I will be happy, but yep, for what it is. To be fair, I couldn't and wouldn't try making one .
I'm interested in getting one of these kits because my throttle feels more like a switch it's either on or off very jerky and snatches especially noticeable coming on and off the throttle will this curate it? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Yes it will. This is the best modification for the 1299 if you ask me. Absolutely changed my bike. Now I feel like a throttle master and can demonstrate my large testicles at traffic lights with more ease.
BTW, this is going into a 959. I've got small nuts and a wallet to match. For goodness sake, don't mention massive pipes.
I've thought long and hard about ordering these when I had my 899. Then my throttle stuck open. Lucky to survive. First question I was asked was if I had this installed. My 899 did it another few times before it went back. I would quite like one and whilst the chances of the throttle sticking on my 1299 are miniscule, I never want to re-live that Friday morning.
I understand a confidence thing and I have been sceptical about messing with a throttle, but it does rattle about. Is that a safety feature or just poor engineering? So, Ducati spend tonnes on r+d and someone manufactures a 2 pence bit of plastic which might improve something, the only one laughing is Customs.
If any of you wanting to do this conversion and use JHP they do his for approx £20 supplied and fitted, worth having done if your bike is in for service.
has this play been engineered in for a reason though? Is there play so the TPS can be set to zero or even minus, so the ecu can know where zero throttle is on start up? seems strange that this free play is there for no reason. I was thinking about this mod but the FBW throttle isnt something i want to tamper with if i can help it and once you have throttle applied its fine. It does make blipping on downshifts really bad though
I fitted mine last night but not been out to test it yet, one thing Ive noticed is the throttle seems to be a bit stiffer or is that just in my head ? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Well it takes away the loose free play that you had before. It shouldn't be any stiffer one you actually open and close. It should spring back to closed exactly the same as before. If it's stiff and doesn't close the throttle as before then something is wrong.
First impressions after a quick blast up the road it's ok but I wouldn't call it bike changing modification still it was only 20 quid Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
I fitted one of these last week. Just had a chance to get out and the throttle feels infinitely better. Really pleased
Further to the e-mail above about JHP. My bike wasn't going to them for a service, but the parts department have been kind enough to send a kit out to me. The advantages over an eBay USA purchase being rapid delivery and no import/handling charges.
Can this be installed without sliding off the throttle tube from the bar? I am assuming you can fit the plastic collars over the stops, once you have the housing unscrewed. Reason being I have an Oberon bar end signal wired through the bar and would to have to cut it and remove the connector, remove wire, then signal, just to remove tube, which is a major faff.
