Not sure what model you have but on my 2012 the heated grip connectors are under the fuel tank. (I have just had to access them to figure out why they were not working). Getting to the connectors is a major bit of effort that personally, I would not contemplate doing in a parking lot - no way! It will take the best part of an hour (maybe longer) to get the tank off. There are about 33 fasteners to undo, a couple of plug points and the fuel lines. Nothing too difficult but quite time consuming if you are not familiar with the process. Hyperextended There are two loose plugs/wires that you may have seen photos of - that are sat nav and fuel cap - mine came with grips fitted - so I can not say where those wires are - but I do not recall seeing the connectors when I fitted Nav. Let me know what you think of them - mine get to 40 degrees - in my garage - on High I have had Ducati look at it twice and both times they say they are in spec. So on a cold day 40'C heated grips is good to about 40MPH - after that useless.... I was out for a 2 hour 120 mile ride yesterday morning and it was between 0 and -4C and my hands were freezing - I am thinking of trying some aftermarket ones. But maybe the new version is better? Let me know THANKS
I already had them update the software - no improvement.. Maybe certain grips are better than others - not sure why that would be..
I think you are expecting too much. Heated grips will only ever heat the palms and inside of the fingers of the hand. You will still get cold hands as the outside is still exposed to the cold.
The heated grips on my Honda VFR worked - I could use them on medium or low - maybe max for short periods Yes - it only warms inside - but the ones on my Multi fail do do that at higher speeds >50 on MAX
My heated grips are mega, (non DVT) rode through rain and sleet 2c on Sat to Whitby and only had to switch them to max for about 10 mins then back to medium, and my hands were lovely and warm I'm almost certain you will need the dealer to instruct the ecu that you have heated grips fitted
The grips on my old 2011 Mutley were more than adequate. The ones on my DVT are poor. According to my dealer this was an attempt by Ducati to cut down on burnt out elements needing regular replacement. I was nearly at the stage of having them swapped for excellent Honda grips. I was saved from this by Rukka gloves which I bought from Infinity Motorcycles. They are a tad under £200, so very expensive, but are designed for use with heated grips. When you put your hand in you can fit either side of the inner lining and hence have a very thin layer to the grip. This helps with the heat transfer. It makes the best of a bad job. I do know others who have had the Honda grips fitted.
Mine are under Grip Puppies. The heated grips still work just fine, but the heat takes a little longer to pass through when you switch them on.
I have Rukka gloves also.. - but probably different ones. I spoke with Ducati dealer today and have booked it in for another test.. They will test the temps again, upgrade software again and if they do not show significant improvement will try another set of grips (new version) He did not say - but the fact he was so eager to help - I assume they have had this issue recently with other customers. Will let you know how it goes in a few weeks when its been in.
I agree, anything below 5 degC and I rely on both heated grips and Keiss heated inner gloves. That combo works really well. Edit to add, mine are under Grip Puppies also.
Well my 2010 multi ones worked pretty damn good when all the ice and snow was around. That includes my being in sports gloves as I hate the feel of winter gloves. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Someone on here mentioned they soldered some aftermarket heated grips to the original grip wires and they worked brilliantly (and continued to work through the proper controls). Might be worth a go. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Used mine late last night, 8 degC, summer gloves, 30 miles on the motorway, not too bad but glad to get home as the front of my fingers were starting to feel it.
Yes - you see the problem when its -4'C or 12 degrees colder - its not just the back of the hands that's cold...
I fitted them myself but think they work fine so you could be the first! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
