I did when I first fitted them as they do extend a little, but they just got in the way, so flipped them to their current position over the indicator. I reckon they only stick out about 1" more than the R&G bar end weights I had on before. I can live with that..
Maybe... I think the alloy is 18 ltrs, but we need to deduct approx 1 ltr for the pump etc. The top of the alloy is certainly taller around the filler cap; the plastic one is flat on top. I haven't drained the tank but I guess it would be prudent. You first haha.
Lat question. Do they project wider than the original mirrors? Not near my bike but think they are wider than the bar end.
Just measured them (sorry for late reply, was out giving it some stick!) and assuming i have standard bars and original grips, which i think i do, the mirror/indicator combo extend 8cm from the outside end of the rubber of the grip on both sides of the bike. See pic and make your own judgment, but i reckon they prob extend further than the original mirrors, yes. Some people don't like them, but at least I can see behind and it tidies up the front of the bike. Each to their own eh!
Thanks for the personal picture gallery today mate, most helpful. I think they look great, just have to consider the width as i commute once a week on the bike and need to be as narrow as possible.
Might catch a few wing mirrors if you're not careful between cars in heavy town traffic, or just keep it on the back wheel to avoid the issue HA! They are quite low tho.
A few pics of my 1098S. Just got it out of the garage for a dust off. Sad thing is it's probably going to be put back in there for yet another year due to increased work commitments . Only done 7k miles!. A least it's going up in value!:Cigar:
Like the little protective pad on the swing arm cover! It was the first thing I noticed on mine after fitting one and the new rear sets... Nowt a few washers between the heel guard and rear set couldn't sort but the damage was done. :Banghead: Bike looks mint BTW!
To be honest I haven't really spent all that much on it. I bought the bike with the full system already on it and pretty much all of the carbon other than the belly pan. The alterations I've made have really just been cosmetic. I got a very good deal on the 'R' parts as I bought from a chap in cash strapped Gibraltar when they were on the point of going bust, paid him in dollars into an American bank account as the banks were frozen at the time. then I sold the side panel to your good self. The wheels are genuine 'R' that I bought from our good friend at elite for £800 and sold the old ones for £600. So all in all the old parts I sold covered three quarters of the cost of the new I replaced them with.
Wheeled mine out of the garage today now it's all back together. Was just a wheel colour change but my ocd didn't like the state of some parts so it's also had new titanium disc/calliper bolts, new wheel nuts and new fork protectors. I also fitted a new tank pad and domino quick action throttle.
Looks good mate. Would you consider having the belly pan painted red? That's what I'd do if I had good wheels. Oh, and anodised light blue wheel nuts
Cheers! No I think a red bellypan would be too much red for me, I like the way the grey breaks it up a bit but I'll be fitting a carbon one soon. Also I went with black ducabike wheel nuts as my old ones were looking well used but I was slightly tempted to fit an anodized red one.
Fitted one myself today. Thanks to @slof Contemplating gold wheels now, like Deano's, but not sure it would suit this style of wheel. imgupload
All fine. Did have trouble inserting my rubber nuts into the retaining holes on one side of it so just held them on the back of the red fairing and bolted into them. Didn't end up gluing the extra piece on, drilled the other side and will just zip tie the two bits together. The rest of the bolts seem to hold it well enough in place. Thanks again Mike.
