Brembo Black Vs Gold Calipers

Discussion in 'Supersport (1974-2007)' started by ck_uk, Apr 22, 2016.

  1. I've seen some early carby SS models with black brembo calipers, as opposed to the more common gold ones. Is the difference purely cosmetic?

  2. The very first 91 ss had the black ones. They switched to the gold halfway through the year. The black ones have slightly smaller pistons. I can't remember the exact specs but can dig it out if you really must know. I'll have to get off my arse though and I've just sat down.

  4. The black ones do look different physically so that would make sense. My mates 92 has them and the gold ones look better. Not sure if braking is different.

  5. I like the black myself, contrast with the white frame/wheels, but yes - the black Brembos are slightly smaller pistons that still work quite well, thank you.

  6. Black ones are getting rare. People want them for TT replica builds etc as they look period.
