1200 Detaching Garmin Sat Nav Cable Question

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Sparky65, Apr 22, 2016.

  1. Hi, hoping someone can keep me right on this. My Garmin sat nav cradle is wired directly into my Multistrada and I need to remove the cradle and cable. I've traced the cable from the cradle to the point you can see in the picture.

The two black cables come from the Garmin cable. I'm trying to work out where to detach the Garmin cable from the bike's electrics but can't find a connector where it would all just pull apart.

    Can someone provide any insight?

    Thanks a lot,

    Mark

  2. The Satnav cable on my 2014 is already fused so whoever did that added an extra one, or Duc changed. On my bike the satnav connection point is at a white modular connector up under the left fairing.

Someone could have cut the connector off instead of using the little pigtail that comes with the bike. But that would be harder than doing it the right way, unless they didn't have the connector, etc.

  3. Looks like its wired direct to the battery!

  4. Definitely not. I just replaced the battery and it's not connected.

  5. That's good, just looked like the optimate type connection. 12v would need to be stepped down to power it, there is a spare connector in the fuse box.

  6. That picture is the Garmin in-line fuse, trace it further back to see where it ends up.
As @shorton says the correct connector is a white plastic connector under the left hand fairing.

  8. Thanks ... Got you, it looks like I didn't go back up the cable far enough. I'll have a closer look.
