Tyres Again, Sorry.....

  1. I got 5000 miles out of the scorp 2's on mine and find them plenty sticky enough for the road. I'll probably put them on again next as I have Maxxis Diamonds on at the mo after a recommendation. 1000 miles into them so far and they are a great tyre but don't see myself getting long mileage out of them, probably 3000 ish.

  2. Looking at my Scorpion 2s, I reckon I'll get 2.5K max out of them.

I need to lay off the throttle a bit. :(

  3. Seriously? I ride mine hard and do a lot of motorway miles too. I did just scrape the 5k out of them but I rag the bike everywhere and think they are an awesome tyre.

  4. 2.3k from OE scopions on a 13 plate multi. Cupped on sides front. worn out and on wear bars rear.
Might have been some 130s top end Scotland..
    Angel gts 5k
    Roads 3s 4.5k
    Sportsmart 2s just over 3k.
    Ride fairly hard.

  5. Pirelli have just released the Diablo ROSSO 3 based on R&D from M7RR, the carcass is near identical in profile, the tread pattern is THe supercorsa lightening strikes with The extra rain sipes in between, it is a move closer to fast road wet grip which has been Pirelli's downfall in The past,
As for the multi I would either have M7RR or Rosso 3 for a light flick-able gripping bike and not worry about mileage or Metz Z01 for medium heat European riding or Pirelli Angel GT's for high temp (Portugal, southern spain) touring, then second 2 would be more for what the bike was designed for but the question is what is your preferred riding style, if you want fast rd style but cant ride sports bike the 1st 2 choices are what you will want, if your riding style i.e touring, commuting and some nice quick bimbles then 2nd choice of tyres you would prefer, you just have to be honest with yourself of what your riding style will be,
Please don't take my advice derogatory, I see too many people exaggerate there style then and up with The wrong tyres, then are unhappy with how the bike feels,
    Thx,
    Andy

  7. PR4's are a couple of quid dearer than the 3's, better wet grip, quicker turn In, 20% More mileage, true fact from Michelin and proven by the customer reviews, absolute no brainer on this one PR4's all day long:upyeah:

  8. Tyres are a personal thing , no one size fits all IMHO. I love sportsmart IIs know exactly what they feel like. I tried pirelli super corsa things and they felt like i was riding a knife edge turned in super quick but didn't like em so for me its sportsmart II's.

  9. So, where do PR4s fit in your rating category? The sportier end with Rosso/M7RRs or tourer end with Z01 or Angel GTs?

This will be my first tyre change for the Multi and I'm really not sure what to swap with.

  10. I feel the same. I had T30s on my old MTS so might go with the new T30evo as they suited the old bike or try the Angel GTs. I am more indecisive about what tyres to buy than when I was buying the bike!!!

  11. PR4s are not a sports tyre but can taken a trackday in the fast group. And will do 5k on a rear, 9 on a front

  13. Great. Ta 4 the advice everyone! Have ordered a Set of Mich Pilot Road 4's (making sure i get the 190/55R17 not the 190/50R17 rear fitment PR4. Had them on a VERSYS 1000 7k rear 8.5k front - 115bhp-ish). 3350 and tge pirelli scorpion II's rear is nearly done. Bit of rubber still on the front scorp but starting to step.

  14. PR4's are in THe sports touring range with Z01's & Angel GT's, they will cope with a trackday bad fast Rd riding but their design feature is sports touring, I would personally have these or Z01 if staying in Uk,
as @cmyers_uk said tyres are a personal thing, with my own customers I find once they find a brand they are happy with they will stick to them and as a provider I recognise and respect that, all I do is give the facts to ensure they make the right decision also sometimes a manufacturer will make a replacement and it no longer provides the user with their needs (not all replacements are better, they are just a change of characteristic) and its performance no longer provides the consumer their original needs
PR4's will give confidence in wet and dry and are they only high speed tyre that are approved for a punture repair(legable area of course)

  15. saying all that, I wouldnt put PR4s on a sports bike. Kinda defeats the object lol

  16. I had PR4s on my Multi for nearly 7k miles an have just refitted the Angel GTs i took off before my two Euro tours.

Must confess i prefer the feel of the Angel GTs for fast road riding but could not fault the Pr4s for longevity or wet weather grip. They do feel to me though that they are initially hard to turn and then turn very quickly making the bike feel like its falling too fast which i found quite unnerving at times.

The Angel GTs have a more consistent rounded profile.

  17. have heard some v good reviews of the Angels

  18. There's a post flying around facebook of a PR4 that de-laminated, damaging the bike and rider as the tread whipped around... They had some problems with the early PR3 rears too as I recall.

  19. Agree totally @bradders, but we have a lot of people who have bike that dont suit the way they use a bike, I have one guy who commutes from Weston to Bristol M5 needs a tyre to cope with commute and PR4 gives his answer, yes did tell him to buy a bike to suit what he does and his reply was something like street cred and cant bring himself to feeling old! I suppose it just everyday questions I'm used to answering at work and having to find the best tyre that'll suit bike, rider and usage, which in all fairness the manufacturers also recognise, lets be fair, on the road most people would struggle to find the grip limit of a Angel GT on a sportsbike, it just those that are more fortunate to have other bikes for other uses that my job gets easier, and the rider can really push for the best for bike......

  20. Pure example of a sportsbike owner not wanting to replace tyres every 1.5-2k and still uses the bike as if had hypersports tyres on it, also I bet the garage did not advise the new owner that he needs to run at higher pressures than his hypersport predecessors,
This is more commonly too low tyre pressure or a puncture that caused the same root cause,
I bet Michelin will prove inner temperature carcass got too hot giving root cause of problem and then give gesture goodwill partial credit to keep customer happy,
I'm on a roll tonight, wonder how long it'll be before I really pis* someone of tonight!;)
