Well fitted the CF rear hugger tonight, the short version as I wasn't keen on the longer Ilmberger version. Still a pain to fit had to put washers etc all over the place to stop it catching the wheel, this problem must be because it has CF wheels?.
Where did you buy this? Mine keeps eating backlights. I only keep finding the ones with integrated indicators, don't want those.
Project R For the princely sum of £23.98 iirc, inc 1st class postage. They don't list them as a separate item but the guy was quite happy to sell me one separately. They normally come as an optional extra with a clear or smoked lens.
Let me know how yours hold up! I ordered led bulbs from ebay but even those got destroyed due to vibrations
No idea. Can only think I hit it whilst scrolling on the ipad :Banghead: One bit of advice on the LED tail lights. Make sure you insulate the back of the circuit board. I had one of these fitted to my 999 and it short circuited and took the whole wiring loom out right up to the fuse box by the headlight. I was in Germany at the time, in the middle of nowhere by the Czech border. Bike got recovered to DUCATI at the Sachsenring who just said 'Kaputt!!!!!'. Good job my breakdown cover repatriated both me and the bike.
Put a set of the Exact Start cables on my 749 today... and a new battery. I was genuinely astonished by the difference. My bike has always been a total 'mare to start and many a ride has been abandoned and another bike wheeled out because the 749 wouldn't. @Exige supplied these and was a gent. There's a discount for becoming a forum subscriber (which costs a mere fiver) and then you can enjoy a discount on the parts, which arrive beautifully packaged and with very good written and photographic instructions. The cables themselves are of a very high quality and @Exige has included EVERYTHING, down to alcohol wipes, 1200 grit paper and protective gel for the contacting surfaces, new screws for the (bastard sodding awkward) heatshield and cable-ties. If only more suppliers put this much love and attention into their products. 100% recommendation for anyone with a 749/999. The bike fired within 1 second, first time... It's never done that! :handok: I might need to marry Exige.
I too have just fitted new cables from Mr Exige. Instant improvement. I must say that including new heatshield screws is very much appreciated. I found the process a bit awkward but is worth it and gives a chance to clean up the crud from around the electrics. I actually found a condom back there. (relay protection I think-hope).
Every time I have to do anything with the battery box on my 749 my heart sinks. That heat shield is a massive nightmare.
Well the favorite's pages with items added to baskets is growing, sitting at home is causing a bit of shopping therapy! just doing a bit of research on an HM Quickjshifter, are they worth it on a 749? And do they only kick in above certain revs? As some of my commute is queuing traffic and don't know if it'll cause issues slipping clutch in traffic?
I've got one on my 999s and absolutely love it. You need a good bit of open road for a quickshifter to really make any sense - 100 mph comes up ridiculously quickly if you just hold the gas open and stomp through the gears. (I mean 100 kph of course ). Around town I just use the clutch as normal.
