OK so you've done 4.5k legally! I would say if your happy with scorp's then don't change, I reckon Angel GT's would smooth the ride and give 5k a run for their money, wet grip is far superior, if your going abroad to hot climate have GT's or Scorpions, if you stay in lower temp european riding then PR4's are defiantly worth a shout, curveball- road smart 3??? Getting good reviews but only from inline four riders. Sometimes don't change what your happy with but scorp's wouldnt each in my preferred recommendations if a rider was starting from scratch, my op only
On my 2010, I got 3400 out of the Scorpions, replaced them with Diablo Corsa Rossos and wore out the rear in 1100 miles. PR3s lasted 4500 and now on PR4s.
Hi their, "D" is the recommended DVT fitment, if your ever in doubt from what a supplier advise then check the manufacturers website, they are all pretty open and up to date with there info, just remember in this case D is not for Ducati, is just D series! Good choice of tyre, as your going through its life just jot down the changes you recognise, I bet it feel the same throughout its life longer than any other tyre, also remember, follow PIRELLI pressures not DUCATI pressures Enjoy
Might try the new Metzeler Roadtec 01s next. Metzeler Roadtec 01 Review - Interestingly the review in Ride mag this month reckons wet grip of the Roadsmart 3 is better than the PR4s and the Angel GTs are even better still in the wet.
Having just seen image of the 01s, I think I'm gonna have to go for them - just so I can wear the elephant off. The other manufacturers should put things like that on their tyres - to make wearing them out more fun.
I was already pretty sure that I was going for the 01, that's cemented it for me. As for the elephant, they had this on the M5 for a bit of daft to make people smile..
I think it'll give it a good run for its money, z01 is using high content silica grip from Angel GT which works in a different manor, Much is mechanical grip from sipes, Metz is chemicals grip from silica, let's gets some bets going and round up the next 3 official independent tests, 1 pint for Z01 for wet lap time winner!!!! The argument in the article is that wet grip is as much about tyre profile as it is about tread patterns.
