1299 Running Rough Spluttering

  1. Chaps.

Since installing the akras last week with the up map the bike seems to have run richer, popping and banging, and when reapplying throttle it pops slightly.

No biggy I thought, sounds amazing so off we go.

    Until today....

Started up this afternoon when leaving work. Bike idled long enough for coolant temp to show a reading.

When I rode off, it spluttered and coughed with no acceleration like a cold 2 stroke engine, then cleared its throat and off I went. It did this every time I accelerated for the first few miles.

Once fully warmed up, whenever I sat at lights or slowly rode through traffic, the bike would cough and splitter again once I opened throttle again.

No fault lights on dash, and the times when it didn't splutter it felt normal.

    Any suggestions?

  2. Oh dear. Are up-maps for the Akra's on the 1299 the same as the Termi's on the 1199's in that you just plug in the USB style key and upload it? Did you install the cans yourself? If it was me I might be tempted to uninstall the map, just for a quick 5 minute trip on the bike to rule out the up-map being the issue. I know some people wouldn't run their bikes on the 'wrong' map, but I would just do it quickly to see if it changed anything.

  3. Ducati In there wisdom, They changed the rules/system for the 1299,
In as - Now if you want to upload or remove the Upmap you can only do it at the dealers, were as we know thats wasn't the case with the 1199 upmap sticks.

Hopefully its just abit of crappy fuel mate ??

  4. Well if the dealer has done the map then I'd be taking it straight back there! Lets hope it is something simple like some shitty fuel though...

  5. Yes dealer did the map. It says racing when turning on bike so I know it's the end can only map.

Problem is the dealer is 110miles away.

I'll fill up tank with new fuel and test tonight. Hoping it was a glitch.

Wondering if the akras are worth the bother at the mo.

  6. What mode were you in?
Has the tank been off and could there be a kinked hose.

Do the revs fall as normal when you roll off?

  7. that's very possible discos as my 1199 had trapped /loose hoses twice

  8. Mmmmm, worrying! Just purchased the Akra cans for my bike today.
Would be very interested to learn of what the problem is...

  9. Tank hasn't been removed no.

It rode fine on the way back from Moto Rapido, no spluttering but did pop and bang a little which I think is normal.

The spluttering issue is new. Bike seems to decelerate as normal.

  10. My 1299 pops and bangs like a bad boys dream. This is when using the qs up and down.

  11. yea mine does the same and the dealer has checked it and says that's what we all want and so we have got it.my issue is I have what seems like a dead spot between 2 to 3k on the revs, makes the bike bunny hop when pulling off slowly under 30mph. its really annoying as going through traffic jams and town is a pain.anyone else getting a similar problem with akras fitted. Ive only done 340 miles so far. is it because its still running in ?.no probs when riding on the open road, everything is ok.i bought the bike with akras under a offer fitted from dmc .but got it checked at my local duke dealer as the problem was there from new.they said it seemed ok but they remapped it and replace a throttle body just in case was told.they told me it needs running in as engine is tight etc.
not sure whether to leave it to the first service hopefully next month and get them to recheck it or just say sod it and get the original silencers fitted as looking at the you tube videos the 1299 rides fine low down in the revs. what dos anyone else think. cheers

  12. I never have the bike at 2 to 3k revs, does not like it at all. Tall 1st gear does not help traffic light starts. Think it is just the engine character. My monster 1200 was also a pig around the same revs. Bike much happier above 4000 where I tend to keep it.

  13.
  14. yea I guess that's what you get with a v twin over 1000cc . will just have to do a race start everytime I have to pull off hahaha.
just you would think they could have sorted it better with mapping.
keep it in first gear around town and blow the ear drums off the pensioners as I go past em haha. cheers

  15. It is a problem. 30 in second she hunts a little, or you have to give tiny throttle adjustments. Then if you stay at 30 for any length of time she just keeps getting hotter. Love the bike to death though. I'm still toying with going up 2 teeth on the rear sprocket. Means a new chain, so may leave until annual service time next year and see how this year goes.

  16. Had my Akra's dealer fitted last week...sounds just like it should.

Have been out for a couple of runs and one issue. Runs very smooth...except around 30mph when it hunts and revs drop right down making get-aways a bit awkward. Might have to get it on the dyno for a re-map.

Roars, pops n bangs just nice. Even get pops up changing...I'm sure its spitting fire...need my ride buddies to confirm.

  17. yea mines the same , not great for posing around town at 30mph as you said is awkward.on yer bike could not help much to iron out this problem. have you a local dyno near you as I live in Oxfordshire. cheers

  18. Hi N & B,
I don't live far from OYB. So no, not aware of a Dyno near us. Need to do some home work.
Anyone know of a dyno near to Buckingham / north Oxfrod area that can be recommended?

  19. Apparently there is one in Aylesbury near the North Tesco/behind Halfords but I've not been or really heard much. Just someone on here said they got their Ducati serviced there.
