As per previous threads I had been tempted by numerous forum members who had polished up their exhaust systems to go down the same route and added mine on to the 'Low Season Job List' while the 1198 will be off the road for the winter... Then I stumbled across this post... http://ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/ceramic-coated-header-has-arrived.35783/ This has now had me re-assessing my initial thoughts. Mainly because having the exhaust coated also looks good, I hear there are certain benefits around reducing amount radiated heat within the fairing (can only be a good thing when taking other components, engine wiring and the issue's a few unfortunate members of this forum have experienced due to the heat given off by the exhaust) and a coated system will also retain it's fresh look for longer too  This has resulted me looking in to the option of getting a second set of Exhaust headers and mid pipes and having these sent off for coating once I have received them. This will allow me to swap them over with my current items either over the winter months or when sthe bike goes in for service next time round. I have located these on flea bay and they seem to be reasonably priced. Added them to watch list as they had no bids on them and then missed the end of the auction. Coincidently they ended with no bids and have been re-listed. I have compared the listing photo's with other 1198 exhaust listings and they look the same to me, however someone with a sharper eye than me may spot something obvious I've missed. Any thoughts and opinions will be much appreciated. Ben.
2) Ask the seller to give you an accurate measurement of the inlet size as AFAIK it's the only real difference between the 1198 & 1098's
Thanks for that, I will do! Any idea what 1198 pipes should be? I presume they should also have a part number stamped on them that I can check with Ducati dealer?
My front header pipe snapped recently and i bought one from a 1098r and it is a perfect fit. Have a look here, think you will be ok - Ducati Omaha - Ducati OEM Parts Ordering System - Parts Fiche - Ducati Parts
Thanks @Pavey , come up trumps again I have got a photo of part number ZDM-N56 but I'm struggling to match this specifically to 1198. Also have just received ID Measurements which the vernier caliper is showing 502.5 ID @ the Header / Mid Pipe joint and 632.6 ID at the Block/Gasket end of the Header... Guy seems to be genuine enough so just need to satisfy myself they're the correct one's and I'll be looking to close the deal. Anyone confirm from the info received so far?? Cheers, Ben!
