1200 DVT What Would You Like To See On The 2017 Multistrada

  1. Or buy a GS :D although they are not exempt from issues either.

  2. Sadly I think that the greatest Multistrada is behind us. The newer versions are being choked by emission controls and although the quoted peak power outputs are higher the reality is that the midrange grunt has been sacrificed, I have noticed this on the DVT and also on VW / Audi / Skoda 2.0 turbo diesels which I have recently been test driving.

  3. Going by all of the problems would a fixed towing eye come in handy?

  4. I would like to see software options for exploiting the colour dash display and the variable valve timing system more extensively:

Dash display - I would like to have a full range of programmable options for the size, shape, colour, font, layout, etc of all the information on the display including the backgrounds.

Valve timing - I would like to have menu options for setting the valve timing to exactly replicate (for example) the 2010-14 Multistrada, or the 1198 superbike, at my choice. There should also be an "economy" setting option for the DVT, fuel injection, and ignition maps, for use when running low on petrol, or too skint to buy any.

  5. A menu option for fixing the EXVL valve permanently open would be handy.

  6. That would be great but I suspect it would blow a great big hole in the emissions control.

  7. Quality of components and most importantly reduce the bloody weight by about 30 kg,.............at least!!

  8. T
Their way around that would be to implement a proper ECU/SCU API that allowed third party developers to reprogram the machine - all they'd then need are the basic controls to prevent any damaging combination.

  9. 2017 multi... quick shifter, better seat fitting like the enduro, slightly bigger fuel tank, make it in black, otherwise it's pretty much nailed as is.

  10. I'd like to see:
    • more robust hand guards
    • the setup menu to have an option to show the software and engine map versions installed (like it does for Bluetooth at the present)
    • the Enduro model hill start feature on 1200S model
    • stainless fasteners, at least in where they currently get easily corroded (e.g. caliper bolts, rear wheel nuts, cush drive nuts, engine guard screws)
    • a final drive chain that doesn't go rusty or maybe even belt drive - on the new Sport Touring model :)
    • reduce the "panel" gaps below the seat for both high and low positions
    • I'm not sure that I'd need any more capacity in the fuel tank, OK maybe a litre or three
    • I'd like to have more adjustment to be able to lower the headlight aim, I can't seem to get it low enough for fully loaded riding. A way of adjusting the aim easily and without tools would be good, adjustment while riding would be better.
Obviously Ducati need to make sure that the recurring problems with fuel level sensors, hands free units, keyless fuel caps etc. are fixed once and for all. And no more stupid software problems (trip reset on ignition off when set the miles but not km).

  11. If I wanted a GS I would have bought one, not a lot to ask for it to compete and have the items I have listed as part of a package for touring etc. many bikes do have most now.

  12. 1. An ash tray.
    2. A telly with Sky and BT Sports package
    3. A toastie maker and a place to keep my fizzy pop cold.

    Im sure there's more.

  13. I'm pretty happy with mine all I want is:
    Fix the screen rattle
    Warmer heated grips
More comfortable seat from standard (to save buying the Touratech one)
    Better quality fasteners and chain

  14. Good point. Nowadays even cheap, basic cars have a headlamp adjustment control, usually a knurled wheel, so the driver can adjust aim easily even while driving along. The components are pretty simple and light.

  15. Headlamp level adjustment is mandatory on cars these days and should be on bikes too in my opinion.

  16. REDUCE WEIGHT and maybe
    1. Fit the 1299 Panigale superquadro engine with all 205 Hp!:smilingimp:
    2. Shorten gearing so that wheelies in 6th gear:tearsofjoy:
    3. Reduce wheel travel from 170mm to 140mm
    4. Reduce width of front fairing as in pre DVT models
    5. Get the seamless gearbox from moto GP bike.:yum:
    6. Termi like the Enduro
    7. Ohlins TTX on both ends:sunglasses:
    8. A set of sport tires
and most important of all : Make the bike work!:wrench:

  17. Sounds like you want Ducati to make a Panigale Streetfighter. I wouldn't buy one. I want a sports tourer with an upright riding position which is what the Multistrada IMHO.

  18. Agree with this. Took out a 821 Monster as a courtesy whilst Mutley was in for a service. The engine was a peach and I said as much when I returned it. Put that engine in a mid size Mutley (with a loss of some weight) and I'll have one tomorrow!
