  1. Hahaha - can't wait to hear what you drive?

  2. World is full of telephone tough guys nowdays? Probably just got in from pub after getting the knock back from local bike!

  3. Get a nice Volvo. Lots of room, safe and a step away from being an antique dealer.

  4. At least he got out to give it a go. Me, sitting here typing shit with American dad dick blabbing in the background.

  5. he has previous .... Including a few user-names...

    "Right,

lets get this off my chest. Some of you know me very well, some in passing, some I have had a pint with and a fair few of you I have shared a paddock and a track with.

Occasionally I am abrupt, downright rude, challenging, gobby and even caustic. These are all parts of my personality. To balance things out there are fun, giggly, encouraging, informative, shy, knowledgeable and happy go lucky aspects too. I suspect this is true of all people. I have made lifelong friends in the biking community and respect them all for the characters they are.

My first foray into forums was many many years ago on Thumpertalk (single cylinder bike stuff, not belting people :Angelic:). Since then I have found them to be of great benefit in many ways. Some forums cross social boundaries, giving people with very differing views but a common interest a shared space in which to meet.

I like a bit of anarchy, and I do try to temper my digits but sometimes I fail miserably. On those occasions I look back and think to myself "Could do better, uncalled shit for brains" or some such disparaging thought about my lack of decorum.

So to clear the air with a few parties, I apologise for comments which have been near and beyond the knuckle at times.Nothing is personal, I have not truck with anybody - comments have been made to the ethereal electronic character on t'screen. I ask myself will these lapses of decorum occur again, and being honest they might well rear their non too pleasant head again. But never in a manner which is directed to the flesh and blood real person.

    Yours sincerely,

Disco Davies, Fat Eddie, Peroni, Son of Cranker, Cranker V2, Wrecked748sp. (I think that's all of me?)"

  7. Judging by issues my colleagues have had with BMW and Mercedes in recent years i would stick with the Lexus and save a shed load of money.

  9. Had a 320d touring which suited me fine, just a little slow and found my self having to change down on motorway inclines. Traded for the 330d m sport pack touring, this one doesn't change down on motorway inclines!

  10. Sometimes it's good to change for the sake of change. If you have the funds of course.
You could keep the Lexus with its new tyres, and save your money.. But where's the fun in that? I would make it a mission and test drive the cars you have in mind then make an executive decision on based on your recently gained knowledge!
    Good luck.

  14. Accord no longer in production unfortunately or imported into the uk :(

Type-S ended with previous generation which was the most reliable when compared to the awful diesels. Got a 53 plate 2.4 vtec which is ok fun with a boot big enough for 3 collies.

Always Japanese for easy motoring :)

  15. I had a string of 320d tourers then went for a Volvo V60 R Design. What a surprise; the best car I've ever had. Loads of character, great 5 cylinder engine (get a D3/D4 or ideally D5) the most comfortable seats ever, well appointed and 3 dB quieter in the cabin than the 320 (that's half the sound level), 100K+ miles and just service and tyres, 100% reliable, Quick and 700 mile range. Miss it!

Now in Golf GTE hybrid which has been at the dealer for 10 days now. Will be back to Volvo in 2 years time....

  16. I like the way they look and have sampled the comfort in C70cabrio (what happened to those?) S60 (good job the seats were comfy as the ride quality was pretty wooden, could have been knackered shocks though). I could quite happily have slept in the heated seats.

When the D5 was first launched I went on the XC90 fleet buyer event (unwanted invitation from my boss at the time) and was allowed to thrash it around an off road course. Engine was mega but I removed most of the plastic shielding from the underside exiting a river crossing. Best bit was when a bloke from the fire service shook my hand after I drifted it around a grass course at a fantastic pace with him in the back. It was a bit like playing pool after just the right amount of beer.... a few basic skills and a big dollop of luck in all the right places and he was convinced I was being paid by Volvo. I denied it but he just winked and said thank you.

  18. Had 330d coupe and only 18k on clock when abs pump failed. Bm wanted over 2k to fix. Sorted by independant for £500...but car was off road for a week.
Drivers side seat belt 'thing' failed, the part that passes seatbelt forward.
Mate loved car (performance) so much he bought it off me at a fair price.
Just replaced aloys as porous and tires going down. Less than 40 k on clock.
    Expensive motoring!

  19. Asking as an owner of Mercs for 25 years, and currently of a Merc estate which is v satis - why "defo not Merc"? Don't hold back!

  20. cos their pish. :smileys:
its your choice @wroughtironron to many variables.buying new and changing regularly? you cant go wrong with German as the hold their value and come with a warranty (good job)
are you keeping long term? avoid German but they still hold their value.
second hand cant go wrong with italian most of their value will drop in the first 5 years you can get a mega bargain and a far better car than most German examples. possibly to old for you now but a 159 TI MJET estate. :upyeah: Mmm v.nice car to own.
or a lovely 155 maria weekend HLX in red for 1k. Mmm v.nice car to own which leaves you with up to 14k to spend on coke and hookers. c,mon you know you want to. DO IT.
