Marquez - 2 x wins, 2 x 3rd places Lorenzo - 1 x win, 2 x 2nd places, 1 x DNF Rossi - 1 x win, 1 x 2nd place, 1 x 4th place, 1 x DNF. So Rossi has the worst record of the top 3 in the championship on Michelins, what data have you used to form your conclusion?

Thank you, but I think the results will be very interesting over this season, I agree with Mat Oxleys comments; Rossi may be behind GorgeLopez, but the results are quote different to last year, Rossi spent his first eight seasons in the premier-class riding Michelins, so he feels much more at home with the French rubber than do Jorge Lorenzo, who rode only his rookie MotoGP season with Michelins, and Marc Márquez, who has known them only for a few months. The Michelins have changed since Rossi last raced them in 2007, but not so much. During last year’s post-Valencia tests he explained that the DNA of the French tyres will never change, just as the DNA of Yamaha’s and Honda’s MotoGP bikes has remained essentially the same over decades. After Rossi lost the front and crashed at Austin he explained that he doesn’t expect the front tyre to really change, so he thinks it’s up to teams to set their bikes to get the best out of the tyre and it’s up to riders to fully understand its limits. I prefer to form my own opinion after watching what's going on. I see an awful ammount of stuff that's said on BT Sport being regurgitated on here as gospel. Marquez and Lorenzo have been going better on Michelins than Rossi until they went to Spain, where both said they had problems with the rear wheel spinning. Rossi was brilliant all weekend at Jerez and handled the situation sublimely. In my opinion, Rossi will be around 3rd in the championship this year which is exceptional given his age. Lorenzo (despite your dislike of him) is a faster rider and Marquez looks to have learnt that if you can't win, 2nd or 3rd is acceptable, which is ominous. Last year, Rossi was brutally consistent, never being lead in the championship until the final round. He finished every race, Lorenzo had 1 x DNF and Marquez had 6 ! This is what put him in a position to win the crown. Lorenzo won 7 races last year, Marquez, 5 and Rossi 4. His appeals at the time trying to have his penalty reversed or postponed before going to Valencia said to me that he realised he may not get another shot at the title. His determination this year is admirable, shown by his improved qualifying performances, but I still think it'll not happen.
Joking aside, I do agree with you, that said, I think its Rossi's outstanding skill that allowed him to ride past and modulate the spinning of the tyre issues that everyone had. I think thats the genius of Rossi, and how he still manages to run with the fastest riders, his ability to adapt. Theres no denying the ability of Marc and Jlo, but I think they had Rossi's skill, they would be unstoppable.
I have to say, age or not. Marquez is the most talented rider I've seen. Neither Rossi or Lorenzo (go back to Rainey, Schwantz, Doohan et al) can look to be riding a bike and seem to be so close to crashing. He's got unreal skill. Only Freddie Spencer is comparible in my opinion.
He certainly shook the game up, I think he took Motogp to another level, and made everyone try harder than they ever had. He wiped the floor with everyone, but weirdly, it only happened on his first season, which says to me everyone else had to rise to the challenge to get any points out the deal. Randomly, I would love to see the sport without electronic aids, that would really show the riders skills off to our viewing pleasure!
think youd have to lose more than a few bhp to lose the electronics.. even with them there is a select few that can ride these things to their full potential.. agree with you bout mm changing the game but only time will tell if he's the best ever.. (i think he might be) obviously there is alot that could deny him from beating rossi or ago's stats (injury or worse, shit bikes, early retirement) but i do think he needs to be around for a bit longer before talk of him being the most talented ever is fact.. longevity, consistency and the ability to manage yourself must be part of the package also?
Totally agree with you,hes the most exciting rider since Schwantz, for a guy just turned 23 and already a 4 times world champion (would have been 5 if he didn't have to miss out the last few races due to injury in moto2) and broken just about every record going, even if he wins nothing else he has to be up there with the greats.

I just don’t like the politics in moto gp very much mate (as Robarano alluded to with Cal). Don’t get me wrong I have nothing against Pedrosa, he seems like one of few really likeable and genuine fella’s in the series but he will NEVER win the world title and is only still on the Honda because he plays a good second fiddle. I just can’t get my head round that. I think it was mat oxley at the weekend who said he’d spoken to a number of team owners/managers who admitted they’d never hire someone from moto 2 as it doesn’t ground them enough. Well if theyre not hiring from moto2 and theyre not hiring from wsb, that doesn’t actually leave a lot apart from musical chairs between the riders who’ve pissed the least amount of people off in the top class. Doesn’t seem right to me.
Well if Cal gets a Factory ride, theres a good chance I will too. I can stay on way longer than Cal any day of the week. Whatcha think?
that is bizarre stuff!!! but im starting to get used to that in the gp! cant believe any manufacture would be looking at cal for a full factory ride given his age and history!!! danny to yam!!!??? more likely but i woulda thought they'd be looking to take a gamble and bring in some fresh talent as honda did with mm.. surely they must have eyes on and been grooming a moto 2 rider...
It's funny, when people start talking most talented rider ever I have to say I'm still of 2 mindsets: 1) can only be best rider of their era, it's impossible to compare, and 2) Stoner...... Most hate him, he's a dick in front of the camera but I watched him lap his factory team mate (melandri) and make the entire field like amateurs in 2008, and when he kept crashing out others said he was a crasher but as he said "I'm happy to crash trying to win, I'm not gonna ride round in 6th" then what did Rossi do for two years..... Anyway I will loose the argument for Rossi as most seem obsessed with him, but I think Lorenzo can take the Ducati to the next level for sure, as Gigi said they are already building the next years bike! They have a direction to go in now, like when Gigi started tweaking the Aprilia's in 250, changing output shaft positions and engine mountings etc and they just got better and better! Pedrosa on a Yamaha is good news for me, I want to see him on a fresh bike and challenge but if Crutchlow gets a factory ride it really will only be as a filler on a 1 year deal until they decide how to lock the next Marquez into a contract early enough, as Miller is done for!
