Agv Veloce Lid And Agvisor

  1. hi all,
Finally got to try out my new lid today and thought id share my thoughts!
As mentioned in a previous thread (and in the title!) i went for and agv gt veloce in the txt black and white scheme and the trick agvisor which is the lcd thing or etint..
Main reason for goin with this lid was i was after something lite with a decent size visor for good peripheral vision and after trying on a few different brands and and reading some stuff the agv seemed to fit the bill.
The pista was as bit pricey and track focused for me and the k3/k5 although very comfortable have the internal sun visor (well the k5 does) and they felt a lil..meh..
Any way, first thoughts, fantastic! very comfortable for me, maybe a bit of pressure on my cheeks but its new so i think will be ok.
it does have a larger aperture than the arai rx7 im moving on from but after fitting the agvisor (which has a border around it like a pin lock antimist system) its back to about the same visibility really.
Its lite and is high in the neck at the rear so doesnt snag on my hoodie like the arai did. the vents are great venting wise but a lil crap to operate (although not impossible) with gloves on.
The etint visor is the nuts!!!!!! in its clear mode (not turned on) it has a small tint to it but barely noticeable.. click the button and instantly (about half a second they say.so instantly for me!) it goes dark... not really dark though... i thought it would be darker. its dark enough to look direct into the sun..just... looking in a mirror wearing it, you can see ya face till you hit the button then its pretty much a black out, but from inside looking out, its not as dark as you would think.
over all i think its a fantastic system and im sure there is a whole lot more to come from this tech.. different levels of tint will surely be the next stage.. heads up display? given the lcd screen is there now it seems likely
final verdict.. for me it pisses all over my old arai and thats all i have to compare it to really. my mate bought a new rx7 last week and apart from the vents it is exactly the same as my 9 year old one!!!

  3. Does it have a chin curtain and breath guard and how is it for noise/draughts and fogging?
I've got a K3 as a budget spare (just the same as the K5 except the 3 is polycarb instead of fibreglass. K3 also has a sun visor). For the money I rate it. It also puts a bit of pressure on my cheeks. Well jaw bone really. But otherwise its very comfortable, almost up there with the much more expensive Shoei GT Air so on the strength of that I'm minded to go AGV next time for my main lid. But riding naked bikes and an upright as I do, noise is a factor.

Tried on the RX7 the other day and found it really comfortable but someone said they were a bit noisy. And they ain't cheap.

  4. i does have a chin curtain and breath guard, it seals really well, doesnt seem to be too noisy to me at all but im a lil deaf at times (have to use drops often to clear my ears) and ive not done many miles at all with it.. as far as the fogging goes, the agvisor is like the pinlock, i tried it the other morning when it was cold, with my neck tube that covers my nose and causes fogging and it was all good. the standard visor comes with the pin lock tabs.
the bad thing with the visor is it doesnt stay open as the rx7 one did... its lose and falls down at about 30 where the arai would stay open or half open to about 60 or 70 before the wind slammed it shut. for my money and for me its far better than the rx7.. arai's dont seemed to have moved on in the last decade.. even the k3/k5's i tried on felt a better fit and more modern than the 3-4 times the price rx7..

  5. Thanks for the write up. I'm looking at the Guy Martin Corsa and was tempted by the Agvisor. How obvious is the border of the lcd part? Could you take a photo from inside???

  6. hi mate, the border is not too obvious, its just like a pin lock. it does cut out a bit of vision in the extreme left/right compared to the standard visor which brings it back to about the same vision as my old arai..
funnily enough i did try to take some pics from inside the helmet but 2 things happened, 1, you cant get far enough back inside the lid to capture the border and 2, the camera adjusted for the difference in light when the visor was on/off so both images look the same!

  8. So would you recommend the visor?? I like the whole bigger viewing the helmet provides but I'm concerned the visor retracts that and makes it a normal helmet vision

  9. yes i personally think it's great... would like it a lil darker when on (in dark mode) but it is good tint as in crystal clear and just dark enough to make riding into direct sun light safer.
yes it does bring the field of vision back down to about that of the arai (the only helmet i can it compare it to really as thats all ive used in the last 9 years) which is not terrible by any stretch but not as good as the agv without the etint thing.
best get into a supplier and try one out mate if you can,or talk a buddy into buying one and try that!!
