899 Advice On Termi/standard Map

  1. Hi guys.. I'm after some advice..

I am taking delivery of a white 899 on saturday which is fitted with termignoni slipon exuasts with the up map installed. I am doing a trackday at Brands on 18th May and as Brands Hatch has a hard on for our bikes fitted with termi's or any other exhust for that matter. That said i'm looking at putting the standard cans back on as apparently i've been reading they will only let panigale 899's on with standard cans even though they will fail the staic test and will not let bikes run with anything else fitted even though the termi's with baffles are quiter. My question is how easy/hard is it to map it back to standard, is it a case of pluging the dongle back in and it will go back to standard map and when you take it out and plug it in again it will upload the termi map.

Thats what my nearest dealer said today however he said its not recommended as the map wasn't produced to be uploaded and downloaded willy nilly. Any of you guys got any thoughts or experience with this or would buying a powercommander with two seperate maps say termi and standard installed on a flickable switch be more ideal.

    regards,

    Craig

  2. Shouldn't run the termi map with standard cans mate, I think it will be all over the place. Power commander with switchable maps could be an option but it's a faff to change exhausts given that u need to connect up the exhaust valve etc.

I had a trackday booked at Cadwell and heard about MSV deciding on this rule and cancelled my trackday because I'm just not prepared to deal with the faff

  3. There's nothing wrong with downloading the up map back onto the stick when you replace the Termis with stock cans. Then repeat the process when you switch them back. It won't cause any harm at all

  4. I did Cadwell just over a week ago with 1199 and full Akra system. Was a No Limits day 105db limit but MSV guys seemed to be running the circuit (it is owned by MSV). I had no issues despite only managing 105.8db on the second attempt (getting the exhaust and bike really warm helps).

Brands seems to be where the issues lie; not necessarily MSV themselves or I would have not been allowed on track.

Worth having them test the left side of the bike (I tested right side leant over 45degrees) as apparently this is quieter

  5. Way to much fucking about putting the standard cans back on, I did oulton a few weeks back with termi's and db's fitted came in at 102

  6. Tbf mate I'm not going to take the risk, it's a 2 day event so I'm in for £200 and van costs and I spoke with no limits who phoned MSV and MSV told them on the phone that they are clamping down, so while they all get their acts together im sitting this one out.

Thanks though, I might win Gaz Johnsons TT Bike that I've bought a ticket for... Pigs may also fly

  7. Its a dealer job to up and download the map on a 899,if you do change over to standard cans and remove the upmap you dash will show a error as when the termi's are fitted the flapper valve is disconnected, swapping the cans over is a pita job.
