I meant that if something else inside the clocks was damaged (as they arent lighting up etc. ) but he immobiliser part of the clocks is ok it may stop the signal back to the ECU to let the bike fire up As it's can bus wiring there is a lot of different signals going down one wire from different parts.... Can bus is a basted sometimes.....IE. If you fit a towbar to a car and splice into the rear light wires to power the indicators on the bar the ecu senses less voltage return (as it's going to the extra indicator) and goes bananas As I personally found out ha ha ha ha As far as you've gone I'd split the clocks and look for signs of exploded capacitors/burnt pcb etc.
No - when I unplug the ecu (now and again ill get a flash from the clocks - from everything) but then nothing....so, to a certain point they work...
Another silly but easy check which has worked many a time through history..... Ignition on and gently flex all the wiring loom from one end to the other keeping an eye on the dash and give each connector wire a little push and pull..... My mate had a dodgy single wire in his loom so it would only do certain things with the steering turned right so it compressed the wire together
Ill try it....just nipped out to Louigi's (sometimes someone is there on Saturday mornings) not this time though...
Where the heavy earth cable comes down to the front cyl head it goes into a Allen key head bolt with a built in washer , on that same Allen key is a extra earth cable in a shrouding going to this same bolt . This is the earth pathway for loads of circuits . Move the oil cooler pipe holding brackets to in cover it more ..... if you haven't already got these off
You sir are the man!....although having said that ive just rounded off the bolt that holds the negative on...awesome...
When I get an IT issue I hope I get the same help ......and I don't want the "have you switched it off and on again " hehe , happy it's up and running mate , good to chat aswell
Yep - thanks for following it through all the same...! - its therapy now as I can sit here reassembling it gradually....
