I was sort of hoping to get the 999 back tomorrow but my garagiste is away for the long weekend, so I suppose it'll be next week when no doubt the rain and cold will have returned. In the meantime I've made good progress in the garden: in with the rest of the spuds, some red onions, broad beans, mange-tout peas, a line of carrots and cut-and-come-again lettuce. Raspberries staked. Kestrels have made a nest in one of the fir trees. Cool.
Wrote an email to 44 Teeth - Baron von Grumble's site - to see if they can't big-up the idea of Shark producing a less inky black visor for my Race-R Pro. It's really pissing me off, ruining what should be the best helmet ever. I think I am going to have to get the Shark Tooth bluetooth attachment for it. This is because I have been advised that there is an app called SwissTraffic which warns you of all the radars in your vicinity. That'll work with an iPhone, but it will need connecting to the helmet so that I get the warnings. Very clever: apparently it just reminds you what the speed limit is in the vicinity of the radars rather than telling you that there are any. That way it's legal. This could change my whole biking season. May need an extra iPhone power supply though for long trips - I bet it guzzles battery. It also does other clever things, but I don't need them. I just don't want to get banged up in the slammer and hit with a life-defining fine.
Busy day, blokes on my roof replacing broken tiles and giving it a moss cut and a trip out to Melksham to collect the second set of 400RR wheels with a brief stop off at a local burger van for a bacon sarny made with thickly sliced crusty white bread - yum. Met Carole at home and we went out for a run on with her Diavel and my 1098R - oh how I love that bike . Still fine tuning the suspension, it's almost there and I must get Bike Trac to turn the sensitivity down - had another man down text and I wasn't being that enthusiastic :Angelic:. Lots of bikes out with a good smattering of Ducatis and at least 2 speed vans. Have to say I saw more police cars today than I have for a very long time. Had to smile when a fellow rider feverishly patted his helmet to warn me, thought that signal was long dead. Shoulders are sore as is my left hand as it seems the riding position is aggrevating an existing injury but don't care, got a grin from ear to ear. Busy day tomorrow but maybe get down to Loomies on Sunday. Andy
Been wielding a chainsaw today cutting wood for two winters time, was only a 12 inch cut but after a Pilates class last night that seemed to consist mainly of tricep press ups that was enough, Mel used the bigger chainsaw. Still, lots cut but probably only a quarter of what we need. More to do.
Took the 959 out for a run. Makes up for a crap week. Starting to believe I might actually get the first service before Christmas.
Went into work at 6am this morning. "No problem, take an early finish" quoteth the (actually bloody sound) M.D. Rolled out just around 6pm.... My normal finish is 5:30pm [emoji58] Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Had a late start after a bit of beer lastnight then thought "I know, I will fit that tail tidy, it's forecast rain later so I won't be missing much" FAIL No rain No tail tidy, the top box mounting arms want to occupy the same space as the indicators... So drop brackets have already been made from the MK1 spotlight brackets, recycling if you will, they will be painted a little later and fitted in the week.
took Roadtrip's renovated 350LC Hybrid up the West Yorkshire moors to Buckstones - it's first outing this year (started third kick).
This morning I went with a mate to buy a cheap Yamaha 80cc 2 stroke Crosser/field bike with a mate for his lad who has got too big for his 50cc Chinese twist n go (piece of total shit!).My mate is nudging 50 and has never ridden a motorcycle as his older brother was killed when he was 17 riding a Suzuki GT 380 - hence he won't get on one even as a pillion. The Yamaha was scruffy on the plastics and needs a new clutch lever as ball end has been sheared off and we all know they can go straight through you if you stack it?Started 2nd kick and was cheap as chips for £345 but bid fella £250 just for hell of it and dealt @ £280 so all good??? Well, almost! - my mates parents have a huge farm with orchards and fields so I decided to show them what the old fella can do and shoehorned myself astride the little screamer and shot off through the apple trees! Being a ex world champion moto tosser (in my dreams) I knew there was no need for a helmet, gloves or boots? Jeans,T shirt and trainers would be fine -WRONG! VERY WRONG! I managed to flip it while doing a very ill advised and badly performed wheelie - layin on sofa all afternoon with a very sore back, feel like a one legged man who lost an Arse kickin competition and a severely damaged ego.Nearly 60 - will I ever learn???
Got something in my eye yesterday while cutting down my neightbours ivy that's devouring my fence. Finally gave in to the pain this morning after 24 hours and went to the walk in centre. I've scratched my eyeball apparently, which is bloody painfull. :Sour: But as I can see OK a check of the weather forecast for tomorrow means the bike is coming out.
I've scratched my eyeball before - sympathy. On a brighter note it is apparently one of the faster healing parts of the body.
Cheers buddy. It is feeling better already. Although putting gel in my eye is not the most pleasant of things. I don't know how people wear contact lenses.
