Where Do I Stand.

  1. I've been watching this thread with interest, hoping the OP gets this sorted.

Agree with the others. Running that engine with that amount of swarf is going to end in tears...

  2. WTF :fearscream:...I go along with everyone else on here regarding the good advice, that amount of swarf in the mesh filter is NOT normal ,DONT RUN IT till you get it sorted by the dealership you got it from, keep on running as advised above and its just a grenade with the pin half out...and if it decides to go bang when your caning it you could well be toast too.
    Hope you get things sorted.

  3. Yeah at the moment it's sat at Ducati Nottingham waiting for a reply from the dealership/finance company.

I've basically said the bikes unfit for purpose and because of everything and now this that I demand a refund so I can buy a newer bike from a reputable dealer.

  4. What's happens to the finance?
Does the whole thing get wiped? Or does the original price gets paid back and your still expecting to pay the interest?

  5. So I just got off the phone with the finance. They say I'm not within my right to refuse the bike and that's only within a 30 period.

They say the dealer has recommended to just change the oil and ride around then check it again in a few weeks and see what's happening. Which has been severely advised against by the Ducati Nottingham garage as it may put me in risk.

Now the finance company has said that I have to give the dealer a chance to repair it before I can refuse the vehicle.

Obviously the dealership are mugging me off and now I have to pay either 6-800 for an engine strip diagnostic and that's without the initial 600 service. So I'm spending over a grwnde to fix a 6 grand bike that I only bought 5 months ago.

Surely I have some kind of leg to stand in.

In seriously about an inch away from riding to the dealership and battering them with a crowbar.

  6. Shit.
    Go to citizen advice mate

  8. The Finance Company are bullshitting you with 30 days (probably because they don't want the hassle and to lose a dealer client)........I got a car finance deal unwound after four months of trouble with it, even after the dealer had attempted to fix it say it was OK........it was unwound because they were presented with an AA Engineer's report which supported my opinions and also found other items I hadn't.

I got back all my expenditure on the car, the report fee and all my finance payments as well as the initial deposit.

  9. Spent time on the phone with a lawyer. Found my actual rights. Said, said rights to finance. Finance company seemingly have shit themself and become suddenly very cooperative.

They have to repair or replace the vehicle otherwise refund me.

They are liasing with the dealer about possibly finding out stripping the bike and finding diagnostics.

Now to wait 300 years for a response and all this time without a mode of transport.

    Yay.

  12. Looking like it's all going in the right direction at last

  13. I wouldn't want a bike that turned out to be a heap of shite with the dealer refusing to do anything with it, then being forced to deal with it......

F-knows what could happen to it some time after they have 'fixed' it...........'No legs left' come to mind.

  14. Let's hope I get a refund and I can go pick up a nice used 1199s from a REPUTABLE DEALER.

  15. I reckon you can insist on a complete refund.......after all you don't actually own the bike anyway, so put your case why you won't accept a repair to the finance company....."If it has been this much trouble and that crap is in the engine it will have done long term damage which won't materialise itself for some time....."

  16. Ughh....what a nightmare. Good luck mate. Keep everyone posted how this turns out.

Don't forget to also absorb the lessons you should have learned from this episode - be a smart buyer, don't give your trust away, take someone who knows, don't let the heart rule the head. Reputable dealers have been known to sell duck eggs too

  20. Listen! The finance company are trying to phaff and mug you off! Stick to your guns cos the dealer and the finance company both know that if it goes to court they are 100% going to lose the case and get costs awarded against them
