Hi again! Any recommendations for pads for a 996? I intend doing track days this year plus the usual bimble on the road. To be honest I have never found the front brakes to be that great, they are currently std, no brake fade they are just lifeless, anyway thats another story. Should I just ring Rapido and go with a std set or can you recommend something better? Something with more bite!! Ta John
+1 for the Brembo SCs, got them on my 1098R and my 853 track bike. Quick to warm up, plenty of feel and not experienced any fade under heavy braking. Andy
Thanks for the quick replies all. The calipers/pads/master cylinder is something for another day, but thx. For now just the pads, are the SC pads also ok for road use?
Thanks Cookster, where's the best place to get them? Do you use them on the rear too or not important, std ones will do?
Talk nicely to Craig and I'm sure he'll post them out but do remember, Brembo do pads for 1 caliper so you will need to buy 2. Andy
I just use them in the front as I very rarely use the back brake other to stop the bike wheeling which with me is also very rare. I get mine from hps or bike torque racing both good company's. Also change your brake fluid that will make a big difference as well. Use some dot 4 racing fluid won't boil like standard dot 4.
Bit of a thread bump - anyone used SBS pads? I’ve got them on my blade and they’re great on it. Also - in terms of fitment I’m seeing lots available for a 996 SPS. I assume the calipers are the same on my 996S and these would fit?
Good information here to help you choose: https://www.brembo.com/en/company/news/brembo-guide-to-the-right-pad
Yup. SBS on 675, 959 & GSXR track bikes. All Race Sintered. To me every bit as good as Brembo SC for less ( and I do have experience of both). Good on road too.
