Keeping with the fish theme here is a blenny (a lot easier taking them in a tank!!) and a bit of macro (Tamron 90mm macro)
wanted to give the Armstrong Siddeley a classic feel without just hitting the sepia button in photoshop. I think it gave the body a more classic look than the standard Sepia tone.
i might have tried pushing down the f,stop and focused on badge and blurred out car a bit to see what effect you get
This is becoming an extreme sports thread Loving the composition of that shot, the line draws your eye to the bike and the location is an interesting one.
I took quite a few of the Armstrong Siddeley, a couple were closer to the badge on a low f-stop with just the emblem in focus, the effect was very nice. Thinking about it the same effect could have worked well as you suggested with more of the car in the frame. [emoji41] The photo above the coke glass was on a smaller f stop, but I think I could have gone further.
Showing the full glass it's difficult to portray the image in a way that the viewer expects. Ideally, and this is a generalisation, the glass should be sharp back to front yet focus fall off rapidly behind and in front of it. Use of a longer lens (helps to isolate) or some work in Photoshop on an image that has deeper depth of field to start with would help to achieve that. Alternatively get in close on the embossed logo on the glass and focus on that letting both the rest of the glass and the background fall way out of focus. Likin' the composition
Ahh, OK, thanks for the pointers. [emoji846] I like the idea of focusing in on the coke logo and moving everything else out of focus. Does anyone here shoot film? I've been looking through some sites and was surprised to see 35mm film is still very much alive, and was especially intrigued to find that people actually deliberately buy expired film as it can lend all sorts of interesting qualities to the photos, without you ever actually knowing what you are going to get. Films can be developed straight on to CD as JPEG files with a resolution of around 6 megapixels for about £5 - it would make an interesting side project to take an old SLR to a classic race meeting or similar to see if it's possible to shoot a set which look truly vintage. If I were going to do that I'd take the DSLR as well, as of course expired film is a complete unknown until it's developed - it may be completely unusable, you just don't know. I'm going to get in some time with the DSLR before I try it, but I may keep an eye out at flea markets / boot sales for an old film SLR, just to give it a go.
I used to shoot a lot of 35mm.I have some lovely 10 by 8 prints of Bedouin women I met in North Africa years ago and thousands of slides. I gave away my 35mm camera gear a few years back to a local charity shop,there was no market for it then,everybody had gone digital. I still remember the first black and white I developed and printed in my makeshift darkroom in my parents kitchen.
Bit like vinyl then, fell off the radar for a brief period, but soon made quite a comeback. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Well, sat idly on eBay last night I snagged a Zenit-B for £9.99 plus about £3 postage! I had just sold a micro SD card which I didn't need, so it actually cost me a fiver.. Following some advice from a friend I also grabbed a clear UV filter (to act as a lens protector as much as anything) a bigger CF card and a spare lens cap for the DSLR.
Funny you should say that........ if you've use Firefox and personalised it with windows??? Looked good then sold the bike!!
