Hi peeps, I hope I am not embarrassing myself, never posted on a forum before so I apologise if I am doing it incorrect. I am going to install Leovince pipes and a Termi slip on on my Ducati MTS 2012 S Sport.I have replaced the air filter with a K & N. Any install instructions anywhere and I have a couple of more questions for you all... Do I need to re-map the fuelling and modify the ECU? GT Motorcycles at Plymouth where I purchased the bike say I do but will charge me a fortune but West Kernow Performance Motorcycle Engineers say I do not apart from change the air filter and they have been superb in their advice. any comments most welcome. Oh and I am from Cornwall. (not originally)
As above Dave - this section is for introducing yourself. There are specific sections for asking for advice etc Welcome anyway Dave
Mark, this needs to go in the Technical Help section. So. I'm guessing you live somewhere not too far from Long Rock then. Pz and Mousehole are where I grew up, so if you haven't been there long, I may be able to give you some tips about good riding routes etc. Far be it from me to gainsay motorcycle engineers but changing your filter and end-can would normally require different fuelling to compensate and oem fuelling is usually compromised by emissions regs etc anyway, so there are gains to be had even if the bike is totally standard imho. The go-to guy on this forum on these matters is @chrisw I'm sure he can help.
Looking at their website, they say they fit and set up Power Commanders, which they can adjust to suit K&N filters, slip-ons etc without having to change the ecu. Are you sure this isn't what they told you and that you misunderstood them because this is essentially correct.
Hi, I have been living in Cornwall for a bit now, nearly 45 years lol. I personally spoke to a chap at Kernow motorcycle engineers at Penzance and he said I definitely did not to do any other than change the air filter which surprised me. I am going to GT tomorrow and will check on their advice again. cheer Mark.
You should know the roads after 45 years I'd say. Thought you'd already swapped to a K&N. An aftermarket can and and a K&N filter should flow more air through the motor and that should require fuelling alterations I'd have thought. Kernow say they can set up PCs to fuel correctly - do they have a rolling road I wonder?
Hi, I just spoke to CJS at Bristol and he (Chris) said that he could do a fuel re-map and calibration for £425 :grimacing: He also said that West Kernow would not be able to re-map each gear with a power commander.
Power Commanders are good for what they are but not as good as a full ecu remap by an expert specialist. CJS have a fantastic reputation, so you can't go wrong
Thanks bud, just took the bike to GT where I bought it as the front shocks where "knocking" apparently a common fault with mts, and back back still shit another common problem lol, they will re-map for £50. so thats my plan.
