Is it always when doing the easy little jobs that things go wrong? err yep

  1. I had taken off my side panels of my 1098 to fix an oil leak, which I did, and wanted to clean up the two panels and put them back on. Cleaning done, right panel on no problem, left panel.....:eek::eek: I've managed to cross thread two of the three bolts that fix the panel to the nose across the top. The bolt has hooked onto and the nut in it rubber housing and wont do up or undo just turning around like some sorry pastiche of the magic f-ing roundabout. I've tried all manner of things and really annoyingly marked the fairing a bit trying to cut it off :frown::frown::frown: Its only a small mark, but knowing that I did it has really pissed me off!. It was bad enough doing it to one, then when I did the second, I thought ARRRGGGHHHH.
Well I've got to go to the dealers anyway, they may as well do two for the price of one
Today's word of the day is....bollox :frown:

  2. Oooooh I feel your pain Matt :frown:

  3. That sounds exactly like the sort of thing I would experience if I tried to do that job. That is why I avoid DIY bike maintenance at all costs.

Pastiche....................Great word mate. I like the juxtaposition of magic f-ing roundabout with sorry pastiche!!!

  4. Yes, that was a good phrase.
Just think, if you'd got your fairing back on without a hitch, we'd have been deprived of that little gem.

    It's an ill wind!

  5. I know the little fella's well......they are without doubt the shits :frown:

  6. Ive ordered some new M5 rubber nuts, which will replace all the ones I can find during the big clean of 2012, hopefully avoiding a similar event in the near future.
Yes, out of pain, coming inspiration

  7. Have you thought of dzus clips, I'm tempted to do mine, not sure if its worthwhile?

  8. I thought Dzus clips were only suitable for the bigger bolts, but I will investigate. I never need an excuse to spend money on that Italian shit bag in the garage. No not Silvio Berlusconi.
Speaking of which, this should make you smile

  10. Unreal. That's the difference between our fools and the Italian ones. Our guy calls a copper a pleb. Berlusconi mimes having sex with a traffic warden.

  14. My matra is that anything can be fixed....hopefully

  15. :upyeah:

  16. My brother was a genius for this. Every time he did a job on his bike, he'd break something else while he was fixing the problem.
The best one is dropping one of the nuts which secures the camchain cog down the camchain tunnel. And plop! Now its residing at the bottom of your motor. Cue all sorts of magnets on the end of sticks.
