I went last year on the first Saturday and it got flippin manic, so this year Im going to head up and go on the Friday instead. Just out of interest, is anybody else going? After having to pay for parking or the train, I think it works out at about £30, which is a little steep, but I guess you can make of the day what you will
I will be going on the Friday so if junction 13 is on your way park up at my warehouse and we can go in one car and save on the parking
Fraid i won't go again until they take the parking charge off, kin rip-off. my other half goes to the NEC for craft shows & the like, parking is always free, and there are free buses & car park attendants etc just the same. we are treated like cash cows.
I'm not gonna bother. There was just as much at the London show last year, so I can't see the point of going to Brum. There's a lack of atmosphere at the shows these days, I'm not enjoying them as much as I used to.
I've only missed it once in 30 years, it was at Olympia the first time I went. Kinda sad not to be going really, but it really wasn't much cop last year.
We usually go for a look around, seem to come home more often than not saying it was only okay but we keep going back anyway. We will be on bike or bikes, provided weather not horendous...last year we managed it then it snowed two days after! This time of year the days get so dull ...dont mind the cold so much but do get a touch of S.A.D....detest the short days, ok after Xmas when Spring is not then so far away! Him in doors is quite fanatical about not paying for parking and/or queuing so on the bike makes sense!
Go every year and think its great. Where else can you see the latest models (bikes not girls!) have a sit and pull the levers, ask questions at the trade stalls, pick up a few bits and pieces for the bike, get some cheap(er) clothing and accessories, see live trials, MX, freestyle and even have a go to see how the pros make it look so easy. Then you have the race teams and race bikes that you would never normally get close to seeing. Think it was last year when Yamaha made a massive stand showing their racing bikes through the years. Fantastic to see the m1 of rossi, the yzr of rainey, the tz (?) of roberts and this doesnt include Abe and others bikes. And there are the stars of the racing world just mixing in with the fans that would never happen at a race meeting without paying extra to get to the pits. There are lots of things for the new riders to see and do and even the "my first licence" to get new people into bikes. So all in all I think the show is great and I am sure the organisers would love to hear from you if you have any comments to make. So the parking is a rip off...share the cost by going in one car with a few mates, then its another lads day out!.
I've never been but am planning a trip this year with my son while Mrs P gets to visit the shops in Birmingham. Hopefully a win win but I better get a hotel and travel plan figured out soon!
Probably, if I can fit it in around my Italy trip. My mate wants to get bums on seats for next years purchase, and there's a couple of specific stands I want to visit and Brum is closer than their premises.
Thats a really great offer, but i'll be staying the night in West Birmingham with my girlfriend and will be heading over from there.
absolute bloody rip off and for this reason alone I won't be going, there is absolutely no way any clown can justify the variable parking charges add to this the fact that the show gets visibily smaller each year time the show either quietly died or was reinvented as something that is more affordable and is expanding rather than contracting
All the show needs to liven it up a bit is some background music, there was none last year and it was like a morgue in there. Also, the traders used to use the show to get rid of old stock, but ebay has killed that off so there's no bargains any more. The biggest letdown for me, though, is that the manufacturers don't seem to want to push their wares. They just plonk the bikes on a stand and hope people are drawn in by the shiny paint. There's no razzamatazz, I might as well just wander down to my local showroom for a look round. And, call me old-fashioned, but a few more dolly birds wouldn't go amiss...
going this year - taking my 17 year old , hope he finds it ok my first bike show was cool but kids are so bloody spoilt these days he probably won't be impressed unless I take him to Milan for the week meh some dolly mixtures in the car on the way up would be good
