1200 Enduro Who Has An Enduro

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by ColT, May 15, 2016.

  1. Hi,
I was just wondering if anyone else had an Enduro, what they thought about it, problems suffered and enhancements made.

I'm very pleased with mine but I'm only really starting to get really comfortable with it now that I've done the first 1,000 miles (I only had it 3 weeks). I have managed to drop it off road but it proved to be very resilient only popping one of the screws that hold a front indicator in place.

Next month I will be taking it two up across to Holland and then down to Corsica and back. Will write a full report on my return but the larger tank and better luggage are offering a more flexible pan that I had on my 2010 Multi and 2016 DVT.

So I would love to hear from any fellow Enduro riders please.

  2. Problems so far...

Heavy - It's really heavy and tall so it takes a while to get the confidence in wheeling it around and planning where you are going to park as reversing backwards up a slope with leg power is not an option. I have set the preload to its minimal in one-up Urban mode to make it sit lower for these situations.

Trip Reset - A report has been sent to Ducati as the trips reset each time you turn the bike off. slightly annoying but not a big problem really.

No Rear Rack - currently no rear rack is available (the Ducati site doe list one but it's an error). I really needed on so I don't lose my wife off the back and we have something to attach the soft day-pack to. In the end I fitted a 2016 DVT grab rail that can then support my rack from the same.

    Cool Things...

Vehicle Hold Control - or whatever its called. very useful once you get used to it. no worries about holding the break on whilst pulling away or as I tend to use it for, taking gloves on and off when on a slope.

Performance and handling - I have no problems at all with keeping up and passing guys on full sports bikes on bends and straights. the handling is excellent but I won't be taking on the track as I did the with other Multistrada.

Range - the tank range is excellent. I regularly do 320+ miles before the fuel light came on and i'm not taking it easy.

Riding Position - really easy to do the miles without leg, neck or back ache.

Mirrors - the raised bars place the mirrors in a fantastic position where I can easily see everything around me without my arms getting in the way.

  3. Yep, picking mine up on 18th may. Looking forward to sturdy panniers which can be used for seats & larger tank range. Met two other owners of 1200enduros at aylesbury over the past couple of weeks of nipping back & forth; gave them the heads up to join the forums.

  4. Great to hear it. I'm sure you will love it. What colour did you go for? Apart from the Touring kit, did you go for any other optional extras?

One of the best mods I've done on mine is the CNC oversized clutch actuator. It's 30% bigger than the standard one and make the clutch really light to pull. Ducati clutches are a bit heavy and at the end of a long days ride you really appreciate a light clutch leaver whilst navigating the town looking for a hotel in traffic. You can also see from the picture I have a Palmer Products back rest for the wife http://www.palmerproducts.co.uk/.

  5. Looks good with the carbon screen.

The seat looks so much better than the DVT seat. I wonder if the DVT will have the same next year?

    Is that lawn astroturf?

  6. Yes it is, I have two dogs and one of them turned our lawn into a muddy racetrack within a week so we opted for the artificial stuff at the back. It's been there for 5 years now and it's fantastic.

Yes the seat is better, I don't get pushed forward into the tank or have to sit back to get the leg room. on the DVT I ended up putting the touring seats on from Touratech which were fab.

I should point out that the backrest on there comes of quickly (when you want it to) so most of the time it just looks like a normal bike rack.

The gear and break foot leavers are made of steel at well so they don't snap when you drop it :) I have tested this unfortunately.

  7. Col it's easier if I list what i didn't buy: Pannier liners, alarm, frame plugs & sports exhaust. Got everything else, effectively four-packages due to buying race-system & all carbon. On top of that I've got another two grands worth of kit going on it. Yeap this beast is going to be extreme & locked up at every possible opportunity.

Mine is going to be a work-horse but I still wanted to turn heads.

  8. Here's a sneek peek, carbon has all been added now & admore LED indicator attachments. The technican discovered the handle-bar bag & tank bag cannot be used at the same time as it locks steering. Just waiting on the enduro pack which should be in before pick up this wednesday. Still got to wait on DP frame protection stuff & some kit from Carbon-conquest.

  9. Very nice indeed, thanks for sharing. Will keep an eye for you on the road as for sure its unique right now. Let me know if you're ever in Surrey

  10. the hand guard still as fragile as the standard MTS

rider dropped a brand new MTS E during demo ride, ouch !

  11. One of many I expect, thanks for sharing. The hand guards are brittle but they are stronger than the standard DVT by the looks of it (I've managed to break one on both my DVT and Enduro so far). The bottom piece seems thicker and took the hit better.

At my local garage I saw an Enduro that had been properly off road and dropped big time. The hand guard as you would expect got mullered and the alloy side panel ended up with a big dent in it doing t's job of protecting the tank etc. but the rest seems to be OK. He's now having crash bars fitted apparently. Good effort on him though as the day he got it he went off roading apparently.

Would love to hear from the owner of the green Enduro that got dropped on its left hand side to get the full story.

  12. No, no... his wife and just seen him come home with another new bike and took the rolling pin to it [emoji23]

  13. I did the Holland, Croatia Italy then home last year on my 2014 S GT with the wife and full luggage, boy was it hot! 4500 miles of scorching weather it was awful ;-p No sooner had you had a pint you needed another, good thing was you get loads for your Kuna, We spent about £100 the whole week we were there. On that bike you'll love it 20150902_150456499_iOS.jpg p1040948.jpg 20150904_081153020_iOS.jpg

  14. Thanks for the info and pictures but would have been better for the thread if you'd done it on an Enduro.

Looks like you do the kind of trips the Enduro would be great for. Any plans to get one?

  15. So you've had it for a few days now, how do you like it?
Does your trip counters reset after switching off?
Any more pics of the finished article?

  16. No, I don't see the point, I'm so happy with mine I don't think I could ever get rid.
I'd like Cruse control and may be a bit more fuel range, but on top of a lot of touring over the last few years I like to piss the wanabe rossi R1 riders off around the lanes of Cumbria. so like the handling of the S GT.

  17. Fair play, although the Enduro is very chuck-able round bends and I still manage to loose a lot of guys on sports bikes it's not the same as the Sports version. I had the 2010 GT S for 5 years before I was persuaded to change it to the 2016 DVT GT S (which I changed 1,500 miles later for the Enduro).

  18. I think ducati have missed a trick here by concentrating efforts on making the bike more suited to offroad, would you take a 20k bike off road! The larger fuel tank is a welcome addition to the multistrada model and perhaps they should have concentrated their efforts on improvements that would make a great bike even greater for touring...perhaps they need to look over their shoulder at the ktm 1290 gt...

  19. I'm going to try for best range on my bike as it'll soon be into its 2nd run-in below 7,000rpm stage. I think 370 miles could be achievable. Already got a 2ltr emergency tank inside my top-case & will be hitting Wales soon with another 20ltr strapped on-board.

  20. Spot on. In my mind, the enduro tank should have been put on a normal DVT and been the updated GT model. Maybe stick with the metal panniers too but keep the chassis so it's still a proper sports bike hunting mutley.
