I currently have a 14 1199' on tri options and after going to the track star event I have a £1000 voucher to spend on a new 1299. With the current settlement value and trade in I would be looking at around £1200 cash to change. Seems a good deal as I'd soon need tyres and a service on mine biut I have loved the 1199 it's not missed a beat so is it worth changing, the 1299 seems smoother but I quite like the top end rush of the 1199? I'd have to change this time next year anyway or buy the 1199 so I'm having a tough time deciding. What do you guys think? I guess if I wait till next year I'd need about £2k to change.
That's rather good to hear as I'm in a similar position and off to the track star event at Silverstone next week! I love my 1199S and it's been absolutely bullet proof the whole time I've had it but it's a no brainer choice in my opinion. Everything I've heard says it's simply a better bike so you'd be crazy not to do it imo.
I've never known a situation (even on a year old bike) where it's cost less than £4k to change a bike. Good luck if that's all it is for you.
With the tri options you just need to cover the deposit so a bit of equity , in my case about £1500 and a £1000 voucher from Ducati leaves approx £1200 to find, even if they offered the amount left on finance it would be £3600 to change and keep the monthly payments the same, would be more to go up to an S but for me that isn't worth it
I did exactly that. 1199 to a 1299. The 1299 is a better bike albeit I'm still adjusting to the automatic suspension (I know I can change that and may have to) but I have only done about 1500 miles on it. I remember with the 1199 it seemed to be a different bike after 3K miles and far better for it. However, I too miss the rush at 8k I'd say do it...
Yo Guys. I have both 1199 and 1299. Quite a bit of difference between the two. Deffo a lot more bottom end grunt from the 12, and a lot smoother on gear change as well. Overall a faster bike ! Prefer the look of the 11 as the front is narrower. Mirrors are useless on the 12 as they vibrate from what seems like just putting the key in. Can buy 1199 exhausts at a 'reasonable' price. But all in all, Both brilliant bikes.
Interesting that you have both, do you think the 1299 is a significant upgrade? I noticed the screen was taller but not that the faring was wider, it did feel smoother more linear but the engine felt tight as only 450 km the gearbox also needed a firm foot but could have been the lever position was different but my 1199 seems to snick in easier. Be interested in your thoughts
Did a deal today for a new 1299, ended up with £1850 equity and my £1000 from Ducati so very happy. New one should arrive in around 4 weeks
Yo Alrick. You can have 'add on sides' to the front fairing on the 1199 to make it the same as the 1299. Yep, deffo more smoother to change gear, as the 1199 jerks a little. Also my ride height is a little higher on the 12 ? But I do have the rear shocker set a little harder. When I first had the 11, It was well tight, then at around 2000 miles it became a different bike and really loosened up, seemed like all of a sudden I had gained another 50 bhp. Only done 1200 miles so far on the 12 so cant really say owt about that. But the 12 has a bit more lower grunt than the 11. But once again, both the best bikes I have ever ridden. And the best looking !! Spesh when you remove the mirrors and rear hanger. Just one down side of the Panigale's is the look of the exhausts. Great idea of the underslung, but not very pretty. Got Termi's on the 11 , but at the mo standards on the 12. £2.2K just for Akro end cans seems a bit bonkers ! I'm waiting (still) for SC projects to bring out their system. They said end of April, when I asked. Maybe might get one of those. (maybe ) ..
