  3. had my fuel sensor and map updated today

    zero miles to go and put 19.2l in it, and bike does feel more lively low down

    works then
     
  4. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but I bought a new 1200 Adventure 6 months ago broke down with under 500 miles try going on the BMW forums you read the same sad storys, the only truly reliable Adventure is the Super Ten fact.

    What was the mapping issue?
     
  6. Not an issue, just an update, and as others have said it feels more like the my13 bike I had, ie bit more eager below 6k

I do agree with this, ive had 2 GS WC bikes the first tried to kill me and the second needed a new engine after one trip away needless to say I was very very well looked after by BMW, they brought both bikes back and gave me full money back, paid compensation and then gave me a voucher for £2500 to use on any new BMW bike as long as it wasn't a gs ! I kind of felt like they were paying me to keep my gob shut, they didn't want me to air my issues on the forums.

    Regardless of what bike you buy all the new breeds are plaque'd by issues in some form or another, go on the forums and have a read on any new breed, but it's how the dealer manages the issues that matters to myself.

    Sometimes I find forums bad places because when you hear doom and gloom and than you start looking for fault yourself !

    One thing you can be assured of buying BMW, they will look after you in the event it goes tits up and there warranty is much better.
     
  8. I agree on that with Dave and can't get it why new owners are b.thcin about mi or faults when there's a two year guarantee on the machine. Just go to the dealer and they'll fix it all along and will also give you another ride for the whole day. I had my fuel sensor replaced and I got to try the Scrambler. In fact I am looking forward for the next time I get to visit Ducati for a service so I can try the new 959.

  10. You need to work on your relationship with the dealer! :wink:
    My Multi went in for a Desmo service and my dealer lent me a Scrambler courtesy bike. When the service took a bit longer than expected because they had to order some valve shims I told them I was fed up with the Scrambler so they lent me a Multi Enduro for 3 days.

  14. I too experienced this mine was 4 wks (should have been 2 wks max but they did not order all the correct parts) and when I asked for a courtesy bike, none was available, it was bank holiday weekend and they staff were using.

    So I stopped contributing to there wages .

  15. I concur with this. I had a Super Tenere for 3 years and it didn't miss a beat. Perfectly reliable, and dependable. But...it was a bit dull. I had the ECU tweaked by these guys in Germany and it livened up performance in the first few gears very nicely. However, it was nothing like as dynamic and exciting as the Multistrada.

    But for what I needed at the time ie lots of commuting and work trips, it was spot on. When I no longer needed to do that sort of riding I swapped it for the Multi and started enjoying riding again.
     
  16. You see now that really pisses me off, whether it's a bike or car, the least you should expect from any supposedly 'premium brand' is a loan vehicle of equal value / spec.

    We can bang on all day about whether the particular dealer can or can't afford to finance spare bikes, that's up to Ducati on how they run their channel and route to market quite frankly....they're the brand, they set the standard

    But as & when the dealers can't facilitate that level of care, you don't see them dropping the sell price of the bikes to adjust accordingly do you

    The whole point of paying a premium shouldn't just be about being 'privileged' enough to ride around showcasing the badge.......it's about service, support, component quality, fit and finish........

    I'm not knocking Ducati because I do like 'some' of their range, possibly more so some of the previous models of I'm honest..... But i think in today's era they're pushing the boundaries of quantifying the 'premium' notion..... In fact I'd go so far to say they're going backwards in regards to producing high quality products......corner cutting comes to mind

    There's a lot of people on this forum who are possibly very affluent and that's perfectly fine, perhaps in a position where by they don't particularly mind having to put up with shite because it's 'no big thing'...again who am I to judge.

    However there's also a lot of people who work damned hard and stretch finances to the limit when buying in to the Ducati brand, for the premium I just feel that you should be getting more than a marketing pitch.....firing off words such as 'passion', 'soul' and 'character' are just ways to justify a mediocre service and product

    Brand only goes so far I'm afraid, when you've got past the fluff you kind of see stuff for what it is

There's no knocking the BMW assist and with Ducati owned by the Vag group they should ideally offer a similar service as the other premium manufacture, so your bm breaks down, ring BMW assist they arrange to collect your bike usually by SOS so it's covered recovery, they nxt ask if you would like a car ! Yes please, so now the dealer has a 48hr window to fix your mighty stead if they can't fix it the dealer either has to supply you with a bike to use or pay for the car hire because it's only Foc for 48hrs and opting for the car gives you priory at the dealership your bike has gone to, not many bods no about this because the dealers won't shout it from the roof tops because it's not in there interest to.

  18. That's good to know, but I wasn't really saying that it's a bmw vs ducati thing,

    it's just more along the lines of premium brand positioning by any manufacturer should be backed by premium service and components

    Otherwise they're just treating people like mugs
     
  19. It's more ! It's the whole buying experience the trust you have in the dealer also.

    I've had the exact conversation with Ducati manchester when they seriously failed to deliver, it resulted with them refusing to sell me a bike, (actually I think I'm barred) Chris gave a cock excuse but in essence they could not deliver a service to match a premium product and that alone says it all .

Have to say although I have had a small problem with my new \DVT MS which they have collected and fixed and brought my bike back next week leaving me with a Demo MS 1200s for the bank holiday they will have done nearly 900 miles I cannot fault them and for that I will travel down to get my servicing dont think my local dealer would have done that
