  1. currently running a 45mm system with carbon termis.
    what are the pro's and con's of running a 45-50 or 50mm system on a 97' bip??

  2. 45 or 50's you wouldnt tell them apart but 45-50 does make more noise,a full 50mm system rocks but the cost vs benefits are small.
    I would suggest if not already done;
Dump stock air filters and replace with ones in the airbox
Silicone seal the airtubes into the airbox so it becomes more pressurised
Ensure you have the correct chip

Unless your names Bayliss that will be plenty :O)

  3. Wrong.

Dont chip. PCIII or full ECU remap via Chris at CJS. Do not use over airtube filters either.........................No filters (ala me) or pipercross in tubes filters.

  4. Wrong says you, your opinion.
Not sure you can do a full ecu remap on the 748/916/996 range fella.
No such thing as over airtube filters, no filters is plain stupid and any in tube filters are poor, over the bellmouths are the way to go, check any race bike you wish.

  5. stupid question or maybe not .... can i modify my standard piperworx filters to fit over the air intake trumpets??

  6. Yes you can, if you have the money, definitely the way to go.

Not sure I agree with you on that. Airbox volume reduction etc.

  7. I remember quite a few instances on other sites where air filters over the intake mouths caught fire. It may be done on race bikes which are frequently rebuilt, but personally I would stick with filters in the tubes for road use.

  8. +1 though I have heard BMC make some side pod filters (fit in the airbox gap) that are reputedly very good. How much??? None of that poncing about with unscrewing the tubes etc

    BMC High Flow Air Filter 2000 2002 Ducati 748 FM324 19 | eBay

Stock filters or (pipercross) are good enough mate

  9. Your are cock with no idea......................Abonther dick without a clue and giving people poor advice. Go an play on you xbox child. When you have a full ansewr to a question respond. Otherwise wind your neck in.

    No Kind regards....................... Mike.

  10. Crikey, u gotta love forums ......

Mike, maybe he is just mis-informed or new to Ducati's rather than a cock. Forums are about sharing knowledge rather than personal insults IMHO.....

  11. Love and appreciate your both rude and childish observation. You are a cheeky Monkey, childish eh, at least i dont slag people off on public forums and i can spell so possibly an Adult.
My advise is not poor, its come from years of Ducati's and i own and use two now. No filters (stupid i say again)and in line filters are not good, i agree over the bellmouths can get sucked in etc but good ones have frames to hold them clear.
Where they are placed as std is poor, good for ram air the design until it hits the filters, then not so plus driving rain ????

I will not visit the gutter to see you, i will just agree to disagree.

  12. Fair shout that man, after owning 7 Dukes on the trot (748 & 999R now) and dealing in parts for years i appreciate this, my collection of tails gives you some idea of my devotion.

Forums should be better than this, Ducatisti was...................

  14. They should be on a motorcycle...........................

  15. I wouldnt call anybody stupid on a public forum, i said it was stupid or cant you read. I will go and learn about over tube filters and try and find all 4 spark plugs on my 748, happy now.

  16. No you cant, the ones you have are panel shaped, the others are round/oval foam type things totally differant.

  17. I thought you said you could spell!!??

  18. Well he can speel. but it ooter shite in any langage. Hev a massive collection ov rse ends to play wiv so e' appy do!

  19. Whilst the kids have a game of Patty Cake shall we address the OP's question?

Can we have little more info than 97 biposto? 748 or 916? Any other mods?

  20. You can't reprogramme the C16 ecu as such.
You can however put a new/custom fuel map on a new chip (eprom) and plug into the ecu. My bike has a 16M ecu running a tweaked 1098 map for example.

Whether or not the OP feels this is worth the time and or expense (£400-£500) of having a custom map created is up to him to decide.
In most cases an off the shelf chip adding a little more will suffice.

I'm sure the purveyors of said maps will tell you the chips are useless and you may as will run your bike on crude oil or diesel.
