I've gone kind of weird and traded in my hyper for... A BMW R1200R sport Pick it up a week tomorrow so no more ducati. I'll be sorry to see it go, I've had a bucket load of fun on it and done some great little tours. It's broken down 3 times on me now and I've finally relented to peer pressure (and mostly the wife) and lost faith in it. Got a few bigger tours planned and my wife been nagging me to get a new bike. Was going to get a 939SP because I wanted one anyway but I haven't got enough faith in the product anymore. The electrical problems with 821 on ducati m.s hasn't convinced me to part with £12.5k I'll be selling some parts once I take some photos such as Dp performance ecu (796) Lv decat Shortened exhaust ( http://ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/chopped-exhaust.20527/ ) Pazzo shorty levers (black with silver switches) High mount dp rear indicator mount (with indicators) 1100 rear shock (much better than standard but need to remove o2 sensors which I've got) Rear height adjuster rod Dp rear single sided paddock stand
Enjoy the new bike. Sounds like a good choice if you're touring. What mileage did you hyper get to? Also what problems did you have?
i've come back to ducati after owning a bmw 1200gsa, they must have whole departments dedicated to pissing customers off and going out of their way to be as unhelpful as possible. hope you have better luck than i had with mine
Cherio Issac - I absolutely guarantee youll be back!! I'm living proof of that....twice! I test rode an s1000r last year and didn't like it atall...apart from the QS - that was pretty well about it...there were loads of things that put me off about the whole BMW thing - I really don't think ill ever own one...
Yeah the Hypermotards are fantastic bikes. I've tested tons of bikes over the past few weeks and everytime I got back on my hyper I much preferred it, until I rode the r1200r and loved everything about it. I'll give it a go and see what happens
A couple of highly publicised ones on you tube, snowcat being one of them... On the whole I think they're OK though.... Sent from my SM-P900 using Tapatalk
If you want the positive spin they're require less service maintenance than the old air cooled ones (1100 evo sp for me!) I think 15k between belt changes not that is leave it that long! Put it this way....ive been hanging around here on and off for the last 4 years and ive not seen a user post constant problems with an 821 (of any sort) so while this forum isn't the definitive yardstick of reliability theres a lot of people with them who are on here and none have had "constant" problems as such...well not that ive seen... My 821SP had quite a few issues with starting up - still has and I'm trying to have the starter engine replaced. But apart from that no significant issues
Have you installed some decent starter cables? that was the first thing I did on mine last month when I got it...starts in about a second....really...a second...
@Exige sells them on here...essentially they are high quality double-the-thickness starter cables manufactured from a higher quality cable....very easy to install. More current to the starter motor....heres the kit I installed.... www.exactUK.com - ExactUK Home Page
