Just taken delivery of my new 1200 S Touring. Had the above fitted but there doesn't appear to be a warning sticker to put somewhere visible. Asked the dealer who says that Road Angel don't want the fact that the tracker is fitted to be obvious. WTF ??? I certainly DO want potential thieves to be warned off. Datatag give you a sticker for that reason. Does anyone else have a sticker on show? Surely any warning to prevent theft is preferable to taking up resources to recover the bike after the event isn't it?
I would have thought fitting a sticker means the first thing the thieves would do is look to remove the tracker.
The issue you have by identifying that a tracker is fitted is the thief knows to look for it and whilst every effort is taken to hide the box of tricks, it ain't rocket science to locate it. Datatag is a different animal, try and remove it and it leaves evidence. Remove the tracker and you are buggered. I have the Biketrac fitted to both my Multistrada and 1098R, my girlfriend has it on her Diavel and 4+ years in the service has been flawless except the unit fitted to the 1098 keeps telling her I've fallen off so it needs the sensitivity turning down. My advice is to not advertise the fact you have one fitted. Andy

Got one & not bothered where it is, it works & the only hiccup I've suffered it false alerts cleaning my bike without turning the SOC feature off. From the road-angle website & having them ring me to tell me my bike was been attacked! I'm fairly sure a serious criminal will go straight for the battery & disconnect it & locate the tracker to shroud its signal.
I've had the Road Angel tracker system fitted to two bikes now. Personally, I wouldn't advertise it's fitted to the bike as its more an insurance premium compliance requirement (in my case) than deterrent. If your bike is stolen and then recovered it will be recorded and show up on HPI checks. This will crush your resale value.
I have one and it certainly gives me peace of mind but it gives nothing off insurance which surprised me. Don't ever advertise it though, you want them to be caught red handed with your bike and be let off with a slap on the wrist. If you want the deterrent, get a chain or alarm. One thing about the Road Angel tracker, if the bike goes above 198mph then the tracker sees this as a crash situation and contacts your loved ones to tell them so. Don't ask me how I know, I just do. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

They're supposed to have a service mode now. Yours should auto update over the GSM network. Road Angel updated their website last week, take a look there.

Thanks for the input everyone. I guess I see your point. Still reckon if I was a pro bike thief I'd think seriously about getting the bike somewhere I could strip the bike to find the tracker before getting nicked. Personally I'd leave well alone and go for something less protected. Ah well, it is what it is I guess
Made enquiries about trackers but the reduction in premium though nice, didn't cover the cost of installation plus annual fee. I think it's better value to pay slightly more to protect your NCD.
I am taking delivery of my Diavel this week, I asked the dealer to fit a Bike Trac. I won't be putting any labels on the bike for the tracker. That is what the Datatag is for and I will get that kit fitted asap. The insurance quote actually went up when I added the tracker.

I read it before and noticed that every bike seems to have gone from London, and that half of them are Ducatis... So not much chance for me!!!!
