Just had to purchase a single pole side stand switch for £47... I stupidly broke the original during the stripdown. Funny how some parts are so difficult to find and others are relatively OK. I have been looking for a cheaper one for a while, and missed one. Eventually had to bite the bullet otherwise the job will never get done! Keep this switch in proper maintenace - not going to get any cheaper to replace!
Ha Ha !! I also broke mine twice!! they are in a very tricky position, and is very easy to "pull " the pigtail by mistake and they will break just on the rubber neck. Finally, I had also to buy a new one. But it only took me 30 euros from an OEM Ducati dealer. 750SS had a different switch than the 900 (one single wire and earth is done by the sidestand connection to frame) But I find 47 quid to be too expensive
One step forwards, two steps back... Broken tank catch! Just screwed the B^&gger on - gave it a go and 'crack'
The answer is when the tank has been off and then refitted; plus when the catch has been removed and refitted; check the adjustment..........better to start off loose and gradually increase the tension...........they don't need to be that tight anyway; the seat would hold it down enough if the catch failed or came undone. I forced a red nylon sleeve around the catch wire itself, so apart from looking pretty, it takes a bit of the tension out.
To cheer me up! the post came today - lovely sprocket nuts! race drilled titanium from Titanium Fasteners for motorsports and competition requirements. - I LOVE titanium almost as much as Tungsten.
OK - new success! I am replacing every bolt with stainless or titanium (well there are two exceptions so far). The side stand bolts are unusual... and the stainless alternative is a button head - which looks a bit agricultural. So I asked Mark from Stig's Stainless Fasteners to machine them... I'm pleased with the outcome, but its annoying that they are 5.5mm allen - i had to scrabble round the workshop looking for a key!
Yeah, if I did this, like you I would want titanium for every nut and bolt, maybe one day.....does look good
Often wondered what the 5.5mm fits, I've got loads of sets of allen keys and in each one the 5.5mm has never been used and only used the 7mm once IIRC...
I have been fighting with fuel line for a bit... I wanted to have a clear line if possible to see fuel. I also wanted some in line fuel filter. The other requirement was to replace the plastic 'Y' connector, as that became brittle and broke. The problems I encountered were a) the 180 degree bend in the fuel pipe under the frame cross brace and b) sourcing a 'Y' connector I have ended up with this set up: I am using two 90 degree 'quick release' couplings to help it round the corner, without these the clear pipe just kinks closed. The 'Y' connector came from a caravan land camping supplier, i think it is used for gas bottle lines. £1.89 VERY difficult to get the pipe onto the fittings - nasty pressure blister on my thumb to prove it!
Hi Phil, I very much like your fitting. Where did you get the small in line filters? Also, which gauge is the transparent tube your are using? The 90ª quick coupling arrangement is a fantastic idea! I was thinking also in using qucik couplings in mine to make the tank easier to dettach when servicing and you have given me a fantastic idea. Mind if i copy?
Be my guest! there are still potential problems ahead: 1) the connectors are very close if not touching the rear shock - not sure if that will become an issue. 2) the line still has a kink in it to get over the head 3) not sure how hot it will get and how well the line will hold up to heat 4) not sure if the pushfits will leak or not also - these particular push fit connectors are VERY difficult to undo The pipe was "Polyurethane Air pipe /Tube / Various Sizes 1 metre length Clear" on ebay - I got the 12mm x 8mm size - it was £2.89 per metre I bought the inline fuel filters from a motorbike show - but the same ones are on ebay here UNIVERSAL INLINE MOTORCYCLE FUEL FILTER 8mm, MOTORBIKE, QUAD, SCOOTER | eBay
