Cars....

  1. Every sympathy with you there, He11cat, I tend to get travel sick too. Worst in buses and coaches, trains nearly as bad. Always OK on a bike, or if driving myself in a car. If I was rich I wouldn't get a chauffeur; I'd feel better driving myself.

  2. They also say they've never found a Caterham boring!

I've got an R500. 0-100mph-0 in 11 seconds with your backside 4'' of the road is never boring

Here is an image of a part of my car; I am sure that many will recognise this British made model.
It gives us a lot of fun and this year's adventure was the Le Mans Classic
My daily runaround was until a few weeks ago, a 1998 yellow Seat Arosa; which never missed a beat.
I p-exed it a month ago, for a 6 year old Fiesta, which is now back at the garage having a new clutch fitted!!
    (Under warranty)

ps Apologies: I can't work out why the photo ended up so big when I added it to the post?

  4. Nice. The TurboS redefines fast too- the way it gains speed is quicker than any superbike and so addictive. It does not give you the same adrenaline hit as when cranked over Stowe corner, knee skimming, front end pushing wide with the camber.... But 4 wheeled acceleration into ANY gap I see - there is no overtake not possible, quicker than even onboard the Duke. I just came back from the Ring, and the 911 was totally dominant and a real buzz. Definitely would not ride at the Ring on any TF/mixed day though.

  5. Great pic: love the lightly loaded NSF wheel!

Whats the power output of the Turbo S?

I'm looking at 997 GT3's at the moment but 996 GT2's look like a bargain and I quite like the idea of a car with fearsome reputation!

  6. TurboS has 530hp, 700Nm torque and is quite quick. 7GT3 a terrific track toy, and a 6GT2 great base for tuning.

  7. Any photos, B@W?

  9. Just picked her up from the Porsche garage today after its bi-annual service. New full set of tyres fitted and wow it just goes around corners like it's on rails. I'm loving it!

  10. That's not an Integra, I had one of those before this. It's the Civic FD2. Brought in brand new, delivery miles only - I then went a bit loopy with tuning it, and stuck 34k miles on it in under 3 years.

A little bit of me wishes I hadn't sold it. Then the rest of me remembers why I did.

  11. Do we get to include VVTL-i Celica's in that?

  12. Thats a Toyota thou. Maybe it should be a Japanese performance group then but I think they already have specific forums for that kind of four wheeled nonsense

  13. killing me slowly rather than killing me softly i take it??
weve all been there son....one day i'll tell you about some of my misadventures with my Vauxhall Viva HB...brush painted British Gas Board blue with interstellar miles..every mile was a test of my mettle, every journey a lesson in diplomacy with her majesties cuntstabulary...and i still sold it for a profit, as the 'rapid resale' black underseal paint was still dribbling from the remnants of the wheel arches.

  14. About 20 years ago, I often had to deliver a lot of computer equipment to shops using a bottom of the range Toyota Hiace van. Every km/h gleaned was an event. On a motorway, it would do about 40mph up hills foot to the metal. Life was a total struggle to maintain momentum; overtakes on the motorway had to be planned about 5 miles in advance.

It was a nightmare. When I got back to the office, I used to take my 1.7 litre Alfa to go home and it was like driving a spaceship with oodles of oomph on tap.

If you ever want to appreciate what you already have, do some long deliveries in a Toyota Hiace.

  15. Here's mine:

  16. Here's mine. The previous owner did 186mph through timing equipment on a runway and said there was still more to give (but he ran out of room):

  17. Not married, no kids, early inheritance because most of the family died within a 5yr period.

Yep, I had one of those too. A bit rusty but by some small miracle everything electrical worked. Eventually the gearbox lunched it's clutch arm pivot and I couldn't be bothered to repair it anymore. But while it was going it was a hoot, the exhaust note made you have an involuntary trouser accident.

  18. Everyday use for me is a 2litre Beetle refered too by my Grandsons as Grandads Lady Car. Wife has a 207. On the drive I have an MGTF which I bought new in 2003 and at present I am completing the fitting of its third engine. In the garage with the bikes I have a Boxter S a TR6 and a Stag.

I like cars but not as much as Bikes
