How much would an exhaust system cost because theres no way you'd want to be seen with that monstrosity on the 959 surely?
Neither. I would find a few £'s down the back of the sofa and buy a brand new 959 that only I had ridden (but then I am slightly biased too!). If I had to make the above choice, I would probably go for the 899 if you didn't want to spend any money on top of the bike purchase (it has the Termis and no Euro4 nonsense).
That 899 is well overpriced. At those prices id have the 959 but if the 899 was a fair price I would much rather have that
not by a great deal i wouldnt have said (maybe £500) they seem to be holding their prices pretty well since they released the 959 DUCATI 899 PANIGALE Bikes for Sale | Used Motorbikes & Motorcycles For Sale | MCN
£11600 for a 3 year old 899 is a joke I looked at a few 899 and all the ones I saw were well second hand dispite modest mileage For me it was worth paying the extra £1000 and getting the brand new bike only I've ridden, has a full warranty and a few extras the 899 doesn't have and would be a pain to retro fit (slipper clutch and fairing). The exhaust can be easily changed if desired so did not effect my choice.
I reckon that 899 is grand over priced at least In Feb I bought this one for £10850 http://ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/899-for-sale.39093/ which I think was a fair deal. I have an alert for set up when one comes up on eBay and I've seen a number of low mileage 899s under £10k, some with termis, but they don't hang around for long.
The 959 comes with the Acrapovich's, you could always flog them & fit some underbellys if it pains you too much Although I see they're offering them free at the mo on a new bike, which can only be a good thing as the bikes running standard torpedoes sounded like bloody VFR's at the trackday :Wideyed:
Yes, it pained me too much. All you need to get is £6-700 for the akrapovic to pay to transplant a 1299 exhaust.
dont buy the 899 at that price way to much i got mine 2014 1,100 miles basically brand new with loads of extras for 9.5k from a dealer! it was a very good deal dont get me wrong but dont by it for 11k that is a joke..
There seems to be huge fluctuations in prices, I paid £10,400 for mine two months old back in the summer of 2014 & p/x'd it last month with 12k miles on the clock ( two winters commuting) for £9100. @Nick Ogden 's looks really cheap in comparison or conversely my p/x price looks a little rich.
To be honest they're holding their money very well the 899's Mines a 65 plate with 3700 miles on it and the dealer offered me not far off 10k as a trade in price ....
I also think that 899 is £1000 over priced. I paid £11250 for my 64 plate with Termi's and all the accessories and it had 700 miles on, that was before the 959 came out. That said... A dealer told me that they can't get 899's used for love nor money at the money at the mo. It's up to you because you may get a great deal on a 959, but as others have said don't pay that much for that bike......
I have both 899 & 1299 stock exhausts, never been used as on both bikes I had the exhaust changed. Open to sensible offers.
Is the 1299 one the full system or just the cans? Think you need the link pipe which joins the headers to fit to a 959
