Discussion in 'Panigale' started by Spikelikemike, Jun 9, 2016.

  1. Anyone used these guys?

I have an 899 that wants to throw me off over larger bumps/rutts

Im about 12.5 st so assume it set up too hard and dont wanna make it worse myself!

k-tech in front and standard on rear any ideas reccomendations

    Thanks

  2. Not used him but asked for a quote. He wanted £85!!!

Seems a bit steep for what it is...

I'm thinking of taking mine to FTR Suspension £40

Haven't had a chance yet to book it in though.

  3. I'm going to 100% suspension end of the month, not used them yet. He does track days so you can just roll up and he does it for £50.

Look on their website to show you where he is and when. He did say to phone and check before.

  4. In the short term, just back off the preload on the rear spring. I did on mine (to the setting in the book - about 10mm less than it was) and it was immediately more compliant. I think it is probably set with the intention of allowing for pillion passenger weight from the factory, but most of us never ride with one.

  5. Rear shock makes a big difference I found

  6. ....and actually just reset all of the settings to those in the book, because a number of mine were quite a way out.

  7. I spoke with FTR in Braintree about my 748. Really helpful guys. All the others I called didn't give a shit.

I'll be using FTR for my next suspension fiddle.

  8. Remember there are 3 settings in the book

It's not very clear though - there is a table with track and comfort road setting

'standard' setting is found next to the fork and shock instructions on the 2 previous pages

Bloody Ducati - can't see why they didn't have all 3 settings on the same table!

By the way has any one tried the comfort settings before?

  9. Incidentally my suspension from the factory was as per the book on the rear shock (where you meant to measure 17mm preload from though?)

The front however was 5 turns of compression and 4.5 turns rebound

Was meant to be 4 turns compression and 5 turns rebound. Preload was correct at 4 turns...

Need to set the sag properly at some point

  10. I set the rear preload as the measurement from the end of the spring to the end of the threaded section, and that gives me 20mm sag, which is about right.

  11. im going to set mine as per my weight.

Once I have the sag set somewhere near for my weight (13.5 stone), I will try the comfort and track settings and see what they're like.

  12. Ok - so set rears to comfort -perfect alot more compliant and easier to ride - thanks all

The front has Ktech springs and so i have no idea! Adjusters top - left fork comp / rt fork rebound. No idea what the lower red adjuster does on bottom of forks - see new thread for requests

Called Bike teck today and got a call back this eve at 8.25 and chap was was trying to be really helpful - but im a technical dummy!

If i dont get amy ideas on the ktechs will pop and see him at the weekend and book it in for proper set up

  13. Best £90 I've spent on the bike was with ERS @ knockhill. Eddie set the bike up for me. On sections of roads where I used to have to hang on with the bike trying to throw me off I can now stay fully on the power and behind the screen. Planted is the best way I could describe.

  14. I also have a converted to manual 1199 ohlins rear shock. The standard shock locks out over fast small bumps.

  15. Is that an OEM ohlins or aftermarket?

Does it fit the 899 linkage ok?

Weights should be similar so springs should be ok and recommended settings in the book somewhere near?

  16. Why does the manual say 3.5 turns rear compression when the acre only turns 3 times.

The manual is a bit of a joke.

Normal setting is useless on British B roads. Just skips over the bumps. Not that impressed with the set up

I've gone for the comfort settings (2 turns softer front compression and 2 clicks softer rear rebound. Will see if it changes anything)

Need to set the sag for my weight but I don't think that will even make much difference. Not sure if it's the front or rear or both but it just doesn't absorb bumps and the front definitely skips over bumps while turning.

On the smooth roads it's fine but country roads it's too harsh

  17. It's an oem 1199s ohlins electric TTX. I had it converted to manual adjusters. Amazing the difference. So plush. It is sprung harder than an 899 but depending on rider weight is can still work. I'm 13.7stone and it works perfectly for me.

  18. Who did the conversion and how much was it?

Do you need the adjustable linkage also?

  19. MCT are always my first port of call on suspension over the last 8 years.

  20. Me too! They turned my rear 899 shock round in 2 days and it's night and day better
