Hi, I have wanted a sports classic for some time now and seen one i quite like, but need advice on pricing. Does this model seem overpriced for what it is?Ducati 1000 « Black Sabbath – 14 800 EUR | «LEGEND MOTORS I do fancy a black one and don't see many coming up, infact this is the first i have seen in a year or so. Is there anything i need to look out for before purchasing, by the way the bike has 18,000Km on the clock. Thanks in advance.
That looks superb ! Around £11.6k at current exchange rate seems quite a bit, but it has had a lot of work done and done well by the look of it. All comes down to how much you like it I guess.
Theres a nice tricked up sc for sale on here. http://ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/ducati-sport-classic-special.42288/
Certainly a lot of work gone into this, thanks for the heads up. I'm actually after a Biposto, so i guess this rules out this version. I would also have to get the frame resprayed as i'm not a fan of 2 tone coloured bikes.
Not sure on the first bike , still on standard suspension and wheels or am I missing something , is it based on a gt? There are bikes out there if you look/wait, and some with a lot of lovely extras , just make sure you get the standard parts in any sale . Whatever you buy make sure you have fresh tyres as some low mileage bikes have the oe tyres still fitted. The gt as the least desirable ( great bike though) can be picked up at a good price so why not build your own ?
Those wheels do look like the OEM steel wheels from a GT1000, although the tyres in the photos certainly aren't the original fitments (fortunately!). These wheels did suffer from corrosion, mainly of the spokes & they are quite heavy. They also require inner tubes to be used, as did the OEM alloy rim wheels on the Sport 1000, Paul Smart etc. The good news with wheels is that there are quite a few options if you want to save weight or run tubeless tyres. The white background of the instruments suggest the bike is a later model (2009/10?) as the earlier bikes had black-faced instruments.
I'm at the point of giving up with them to be honest. I have sent 3 emails in the course of a week and heard nothing, then when they did reply they are not very forthcoming with information. I have asked for a list of mods and yet to hear anything. It's certainly not the customer service i expect when putting down next to 12k on a bike! I have looked at the GT, but by the time i spend the money on mods getting it to look like the Sport it might not be worth it, i could be wrong though and is an option i could explore more.
But a sport. The sport s is more desirable/rare and the Paul smart most desirable but not as rare as the s. There was a cracking deal on e bay uk a couple weeks ago , a Paul smart from a private collection for &12.5 k. Iv been offered £14k for mine which is heavily modified but not for sale. If I had the cash I would have jumped on the Paul smart . I still think they will eventually be £ 30k bikes
I would jump on one of these if i saw one for 12.5k! Unfortunately for me, i never get bargains like you mentioned!
Same here I had the money a month or more before but spent it on a few projects around the house. If I found a deal like that it would have burnt to the ground or exploded before or shortly after I collected it the way my luck goes lol. But if I was serious on the market for one I would sit and wait, I'd put feelers out here watch e bay and gum tree and hand over nothing until I can physically touch the bike. It's ok with long standing forum members but lots of con artists out there to. When I was selling my honda sp1 I had lots of scammers message with the usual shite I even asked one who wanted it if they were capable of handling such a powerful three wheeled bike and they answered yes lol.
You're right, i need to be patient. It's hard though, especially with summer here and money in my pocket burning away! Anyway, i'm on the lookout for scammers, and i won't be dropping the cash until i can physically plant myself on a sports classic 3 wheeler!
Hi last year i thought about selling my black sc, but got loads of scammers. so decided not to bother. And I'm so glad i didn't sell. Im sure i would have instantly regretted it. Its only got 5.5k from new 2005 and totally standard.
Well, i ended up with a Yellow one, not too much different from Black i guess. It is a good example that i'm happy with, and my 2 year hunt has come to an end. My first ride was 200 miles to get it home ,and was a killer by the end. My forearms look like Popeye. It was good to get aquatinted with the bike, and love it. Anyway, i guess i will be sticking around and asking for some advice at some point. Cheers, have a good weekend.
It's the sport version on a 2009 plate, well looked after and full service history. A few mods to list, Termignoni exhaust (one each side) progressive springs up front, sprocket change etc. I'm still trying to figure out all that has been done. I shall get some pics uploaded when i get chance for sure!
