Road grit

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by The Hammer, Oct 28, 2012.

  1. Gritters out in force last night in Essex, took ages to clean up the blade. Better keep the bucket and sponge handy!

  2. I think Eva ia away for the winter now

However she could be tempted out if we get some nice crisp days ahead. :upyeah:

  3. The gritters were out in Nottinghamshire on Friday night. The roads were white-over - with salt on Saturday morning. There were huge mounds of salt at junctions & traffic lights, some so large that bikers had to ride round them.

As forecast, it rained overnight & has continued for most of the day today. Salt washed away. What a waste of our Council Tax money.
The Nottinghamshire County Council has run out of grit/salt by January every year since 2009 - shame they don't use the stuff in a more focussed manner instead of wasting so much before winter gets a grip.

  5. i hear you sister...
As a fellow Nottinghamshire resident scum i get sick and tired of the stunts that the council pull..my borough is Rushcliffe, and they stopped emptying the garden waste bins last year unless you paid a into a separate pot..we already pay the highest rate in the county as it is..fekk that.... i take my grass cuttings across the road and dump them on the park/field opposite my house....if they ever said anything id ask them why they thinks its acceptable to have a tractor mowing the grass and let the cuttings blow over everyones property and also permit footballs to get booted out of the football training ground into the road to hit passing cars..never mind the idiot adult 'supervisors' who dont really seem too concered about kids running into the busy road to retrieve their footballs...
    happy christmas
    bah!!!

  6. The end of summer? Did it ever start? This years weather has been the worst I can remember.

  7. Snow here, with the leaves still on the trees. What's that about?
Had to put the snow tyres on the car Saturday night with my nephew holding a torch so I could see what I was doing. Not much gritting - roads like an ice-rink.

I'm all for winter, but it doesn't necessarily have to start in October.
One minute you're walking about in shirtsleeves, the next it's out with the duvet jacket and doing my Chris Bonnington impersonation.

  8. You must know your place, you are a pleb like me & not a resident scum. I live in the borough of Broxtowe & the rural roads round here are frequently left with muck & slurry dragged onto them by farmers, when the County Council aren't seasoning them with tens of thousands of pounds worth of Saxo. Reporting the spillage to the Police as a road safety issue doesn't seem to have a long term effect & the farmers carry on regardless. I have written to my local MP several times, but have never even received an acknowledgement. She's probably in the Carlton Club with your Rushcliffe MP when she's not giving 'Call Me Double Dip' a BJ as a down payment on her next promotion.

I may have lots of dirty habits, but I'm certainly no sister!
